Note: this reflects vacancies, not a single-day purge.
Some staff departed independently prior to season's end since they did not know if their contracts would be renewed.
The Pelicans' restructuring has created at least 25 vacancies across basketball operations and business departments so far. Medical and performance was hit hardest, with 7 vacancies. Analytics also completely gutted.
One bit of information not in the article, the Pelicans employees were informed via email that they were being let go.
Story on the Pelicans Basketball Operations changes. Tough day in the building for a lot of folks. More cuts to come as well.

For context, a significant portion of the operations, coaching, and medical staff were in the final years of their deals or had team options. The Pelicans are moving in a different direction.
Per multiple sources, Pelicans have started significant Basketball operations staff restructuring and reorganizing efforts across multiple departments. A number of staff members have been informed they will not be retained. These efforts will be ongoing over the next few months.
One name to watch for in the Pelicans coaching search is Denver Nuggets Assistant, Jared Dudley
Could be many things but I think players are smart and know when you can't offer them tactical advantages
Just from the outside looking in, the Magic appear to have quit on their coach. But in the same vein, their top guy just isn't good enough. 18 points on 31 possessions is awful. It's a tough spot for their org because they are pretty pot committed with the Bane deal
Dumars: We have no intentions of trading Zion this summer and look forward to him returning next season
Dumars says the biggest need is more toughness. Wants the team to compete every night
Dumars says there's a definite chance to get involved in the first round this year
Dumars says yes James Borrego is a candidate and no they do not have a list of candidates yet that is ready for the public
Joe Dumars is having in-person, end of season media availability tomorrow
In here, Jake reports Darvin Ham and Jamahl Mosley as two candidates for the Pelicans if they opt to move away from Borrego.
Whole newsletter has a lot of goodies around the league
Jeremiah Fears finishes with 40-5-6 in the Pelicans final home game.
What a performance and treat for the fans of New Orleans
I should have posted this publicly lol. But Chicago fans, when's the party?
If it's not Borrego, the two names that have been most credibly linked to the Pelicans are Mosely and Ham.
Priors not updating quickly enough to handle Wemby's ascension taking place right now
Fixed output issues from the shot quality model yesterday causing incorrect eFG values to display. Added a team layer. The Lakers have the best shot-making in the league this season. Pelicans have the worst, despite the model saying they have the 3rd best shot quality.
Zach Lowe on his most recent episode talks about how there might be up to 10 coaching jobs in flux this summer. He believes Borrego has done a great job and thinks he's staked a claim for the job outright
Had some output errors showing incorrect eFG values. That's been corrected. Hasn't changed the leaderboard really (because it was a processing issue on my end)
Well he's not good anywhere even in half court
It's not live yet ha sorry. But working on a larger overall project that will include this. I can provide searches, specific players if you want
2025-26 Pelicans. Good shot profile. Terrible shot making
If you want to see the worst shot makers/finishers this season:
I made a shot-quality model. Attempts to measure two things.
Which NBA players are elite shot-makers vs just getting easy looks?
VORS= your eFG% above what a league-average shooter would hit on your exact attempts. xPTS = how hard your shot diet actually is. Jokic is absurd.
I had to word that carefully because the email I got read "The Pelicans to Relocate..."
And that's a nice lil coffee replacement this morning
