Cover of Climbing by Hil Malatino. Cover is a grayish purple color. At the top of the cover the word Practices is centered in a handwritten script. The main title is in the middle in the same script and the author's hand printed name is at the bottom.

Longtime climber @hilmalatino.bsky.social’s "Climbing," new in the Practices series, explores how the sport has changed, saved, and occasionally threatened his life.

Essay text (cut off on page): "For Perry Zurn in How We Make Each Other, worlds are made and destroyed through collective action, generating not only a sense and kinship but also changes to what kind of place an institution can become (Zurn 2025, 214). The spaces of the Five Colleges (as of this writing becoming Four Colleges) that he focuses on also run into limits of reworlding, tensions in policy, failures of intersectionality and coalition, and differences in..."

Trump is about to drop a “nuclear weapon” on trans youth health care How a report led by a right-wing pundit laid the groundwork for upending gender-affirming treatment

The authors of the HHS report on trans youth health care were chosen by the Manhattan Institute's Leor Sapir.

Now, a rule based on the controversial report could wipe out this care at hospitals.

Parents are begging the administration not to go through with it.

Buffalo come out! May Day! Let's watch a movie in the basement of a Victorian gothic cathedral and talk about work + care + intimacy + disposability.

For awhile I was leaning a lot on 'anti-trans' but I think transphobia is more versatile as a concept than it's typically expected to be and it foregrounds elements that 'anti-trans' misses. 'Trans exclusionary' is I think often too narrow.

OUP tells me I should share this. And publicise my book. So here it goes. Please read my book. It has a pretty cover. It's cheap (for an academic book) and you can have this discount! Also please review it, somewhere fancy if possible!

Jon Pike's Suit of Leaves The Forest: Planting an Anti-Trans Network

Anglo-world philosophers seem to have perfected the ways in which one can conduct anti-trans activism while denying that there is anything anti-trans about it. Jon Pike's recent complaint against one of his colleagues is one case in point. New blog post from me.
