Just saw a police SUV blow through a stop sign & ignore a pedestrian trying to use the crosswalk.

If only there was some agency set up to enforce the laws & public wellbeing. Alas…

Been a few years since I took a ConLaw class, but telling the parent of a newborn that they’re a danger to said child because of their sexual orientation sure sounds like “fighting words” that aren’t protected speech, and I’d like to think a jury isn’t going to convict a father from reacting to it.

“Henry J. Mansell, the retired Archbishop of Hartford, had a role in the 1985 transfer of a known pedophile priest from New York to Pennsylvania, where the priest then had inappropriate contact with school children, a grand jury report released this week reveals.”

Same guy who represented Jeff Epstein & got him that sweetheart deal down in Florida? Larry David had the right idea on how to deal with him.

Interesting to see all these reports on the death of the former Archbishop of Hartford, none of which mention him being implicated in the transfer of sex abuse priests.

Almost as if local news outlets just get their information from a single source, and copy it verbatim.

(For the record, I think this is a bad system.)

If your state party machine is strong enough (see: Connecticut), all major candidates are approved at the convention, and the opposition never meets the party's threshold to force a primary, thus giving more time & effort towards the general.

Chicana civil rights activist Dolores Huerta to speak at CT Latina leadership summit The Latinas In Leadership Symposium is set to gather women from different industries at the Connecticut Convention Center for its 23rd year.

Sí se puede! I grew up hearing Chicana labor rights activist Dolores Huerta’s work leading @ufw.bsky.social’s grape strike referenced constantly by @immokaleeworkers.bsky.social. Now, I’ll get to hear 96-year-old Huerta in her own words at the Latinas In Leadership Symposium in Connecticut.

The people of Connecticut need to come to terms with the fact that our senior Senator has repeatedly given a rogue apartheid state the green light to ethnically cleanse its neighbors.

Gov Ned wouldn't be doing squat about ICE if it weren't an election year and if he weren't getting pressured from the left by Elliott.

Not enough being said about Americans’ childhood fascination with big red firetrucks resulting in the downfall of modern society.

It is so bad when your party’s best pitch to enlist new voters is “join our party, otherwise you can’t vote against the incumbents who’ve spent decades refusing to cede power”

"Doesn’t matter," was the rejoinder. "Either leave the line with it or it goes into the garbage."

So now add hummus to the list of national security perils. Maybe ground broccoli will be next.

Absurdity reigns! -R

And they seem to never realize that, thanks to Prop 13, many of these retirees are paying property taxes that have effectively been locked in since the 1970s. Even the homeowners who purchased in ‘97 are paying a fraction compared to new buyers. They’re not just paper rich.

The opposition from East Windsor makes no sense to me. There's no way converting old farm fields into solar farms negatively affects anyone's quality of life. Not sure you can even notice things from the road if you aren't looking for them.

Don't get me wrong: I'm relieved that this case is shaping up as either 8-1 or 7-2 against the Trump executive order. But the case is a gift to the Supreme Court. By rejecting an outlandish position, it will earn credibility as apolitical, even as the Overton window moves far to the right.

The current 12-game Jeopardy champion works at an affordable housing finance agency in NJ, and shamed New York for not building more housing:
"NJ's doing really well, we're ahead of NY, CT, PA. If you're from one of those states, shame on you, build more housing."

Sen. Chris Murphy skipped Connecticut protests for No Kings rally in California "Connecticut is always my focus, but this fight to save our democracy is national," Sen. Chris Murphy said.

I'm not surprised that Hartford's No Kings rallies are organized by a retired boomer from suburban New Haven with close ties to the state Democratic machine, I'm just disappointed. Relying on the old ways is not going to fix things.

Massive 600-800 unit apartment development pitched for small CT town The sparsely developed Connecticut town could be in line for one of the largest new residential complexes in recent memory if the developer gets to build the 700 to 920 apartments it’s proposing.

I get the Courant’s instinct to NIMBY-fy coverage of property development, but calling the town that has the second-largest casino complex in the western hemisphere “sparsely developed” is just plain silly.
