Discovery of role of gut hormone in chronic diarrhoea could aid development of new tests and treatments High levels of a hormone found in cells in the gut could underlie many cases of chronic diarrhoea and help explain up to 40% of cases of patients with

And here is the paper on INSL5. LC-MS/MS analysis generated similar concentration data compared to an ELISA. The peptide circulates at 100's of pg/mL in disease state, and almost undetectable in control individuals.

Insulin-like peptide 5 is released in response to bile acid in the rectum and is associated with diarrhoea severity in patients with bile acid diarrhoea Background Insulin-like peptide 5 (INSL5) is an enteroendocrine hormone expressed in distal colonic ‘L cells’. Bile acid receptor agonists are known to stimulate INSL5 secretion in primary cell cultur...

My project from my PhD has been published in Gut BMJ today!
The paper highlights an understudied gut hormone INSL5 has a role in chronic diarrhoea, in particular bile acid diarrhoea and a subset of patients with IBS.

Just posted with the #peptidomics tag and there have only been three... Including this one!

We definitely need a Peptidomics list - us peptide MS scientists need to get the field more exposure!!
