One cool thing about being on vacation is periodic unexpected panic moments about work shit I forgot about

Tradition states that last night Jesus emptied out all the jails. Spent Saturday night telling people “I don’t care what you did, people weren’t made for prisons.” The next day to prove His point He broke out of solitary. It is finished. Easter is incompatible with the carceral state. Happy Easter.

Bummer that Metro Council went ahead and appropriated the money. Here's hoping the mayor's office uses it differently than they seem to want to. I look forward to seeing the RFP

Without going all Martin Niemöller here, I do think that it's bad not to speak up for immigrants, transgender Americans, civil servants, women, Ukraine, and everyone else the MAGA bullies are going after. We're beyond picking and choosing whom to defend. It's time to stand up and speak out.

Have we considering telling everyone that "CFPB" actually stands for College Football Playoff Broadcasts? Because that seems like it would really solidify public opinion against meddling with it.

Republicans want to turn this country into a fascist theocracy. As Democrats, we must put aside our differences and work with them to help achieve this reality.

Do a disproportionate number of Teslas have vanity plates? Can someone do a study on this?

This is my current number one beef with the city because my normie friends don’t understand why I’m so mad about this issue constantly. The cute little government faces say there are beds and the people on the streets say there are not, and the normies believe the government.

‘These things happen.’ LMPD chief acknowledges error in citing homeless woman in labor In a TV interview, Louisville Police Chief Paul Humphrey said that, in hindsight, it was a mistake to cite a homeless woman in labor for camping outside weeks after Kentucky Public Radio released foot...

It is worth pointing out that "these things" do not in fact "happen" when you don't prioritize the enforcement of stupid laws over helping people.

Anyway I think anytime the state wants to allocate extra money to the police, 50% of it should have to go to their Open Records compliance departments for additional personnel

So what are they spending all that time redacting? Good question. The law allows them to redact "information of a personal nature where the public
disclosure thereof would constitute a clearly unwarranted invasion of personal
privacy." Your guess is as good as mine as to what that means

Meanwhile, here's 2.5 hours of completely unredacted video posted to LMPD's YouTube page on December 19, 2024. I requested this exact video on December 8, 2024, and was told it would be available on June 9, 2025, after it got redacted: youtu.be/_hnaAr9GPh0?...

While I'm sure everyone just takes my word for it, here is Louisville Metro Police Department's standard response to a request for body camera. I placed this request on December 22,2024, and the projected date the records will be available is June 23, 2025

Here in Louisville, body camera ORRs take 6-8 months to "redact." Which is remarkable, because when the police want something to be public they seem to have no qualms with releasing unredacted video. What I'm saying is, this is probably an area of open records stuff to keep a close eye on nationwide

Anyone else submit Open Records Request appeals for fun in the evenings? Or is that just me?

if this winter storm pans out, please spare a thought for our homeless neighbors and remember that even when white flag is declared, there are not enough shelter beds available

Of course! They also attached some extra documents which aren't all that interesting (the FOP's answer to the complaint, a couple copies of the CBA, etc.). Those documents are here if you want to view them: www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/4e3m7...

This Mississippi Hospital Transfers Some Patients to Jail to Await Mental Health Treatment Baptist Memorial Hospital-DeSoto doesn’t have a psychiatric unit, so it sends patients elsewhere for mental health treatment. When publicly funded facilities are full, some patients go to jail to…

When Sydney Jones arrived at Baptist Memorial Hospital-DeSoto during a mental health crisis, her family assumed she would soon receive treatment.

Instead, the hospital sent her to jail, though she was charged with no crime.

Murderous elves bringing final peace to worn out Santas

I saw something that might be a conspiracy theory but apparently the elves are hanging around Scott Calvin before Santa's death and that's because the death is planned in advance. So I'm thinking they had made peace with it.

The solution to homelessness is the provision of quality housing.

The rule doesn't have to be changed for the DoP to stop utilizing the discretion granted by the rule.

Because it's an obviously correct thing to do in a world where the next Director of the Bureau of Prisons could be a complete nut who does not exercise the discretion that press release is talking about
