In audio editing you gotta press ⏹️, but this generation has never used cassette players, or CD or DVD players, so why would they know it? This is the first year I have had to explain what it is and I feel a weird sense of sadness about it that is totally unwarranted.

Something I have noticed this year with my broadcast journalism students (although it's probably been happening for a while) is that they don't recognise the stop ⏹️ symbol. They only know play ▶️ and ⏸️.

Having a long break from teaching between semesters is great. But oh my god that first day of teaching again is so hard. Six hours of it. I am now collapsed in a darkened room and don't plan to get up for 12 hours.
