“I’m not willing to say that our lawmakers are bought and paid for,” Rose said. “But the money obviously lends itself to a strong voice at the Capitol and a voice that smaller groups and, quite frankly, I think, a lot of the average citizens don’t have.”
“There’s absolutely no doubt that the utilities and the health care industries have way too much power at the State Capitol,” Swan said, asserting that Connecticut citizens pay higher health care costs and utility costs because of the sway those monopolistic industries hold.
Thank you @ctnewsjunkie.bsky.social for covering CCAG's private equity forum last week. Lots of great quotes from panelists in this article.

This is beyond fucked up
"The healthcare inequities in our state are a moral outrage, and it is unconscionable that Connecticut allows them to continue," Swan said. "The top 25% of our taxpayers got a $3.4 billion tax break *every year* from Trump."
CCAG joins ACLU CT, Common Cause in CT, 100% Democracy, Responsive Gov, and LWV CT in urging Gov. Lamont to fully fund the Secretary of the State’s FY27 budget. Expanded voting rights need voter education, municipal aid, audits, and real implementation support. Democracy needs funding.
Two bills, SB 3 and RB 496, will begin to create a basic health plan, help prevent medical debt, and address Medicaid rates to providers.
CCAG's Tom Swan joined Comptroller Sean Scanlon, Senator Matt Lesser and others at Health Equity Solutions' kickoff of Health Equity Week.
"We have the ability and the resources…We need the will."

They are perverting the ACA to be more expensive than retail individual insurance.
NEW: Alongside 16 other Democrats, @warren.senate.gov is introducing the American Homeownership Act of 2026.
This bill takes private equity's chokehold on housing head on — ending major federal tax deductions & other unfair benefits for Wall Street landlords, while reinvesting in families.
Haven’t we made clear?
NO KINGS
It was good the governor lifted up CT’s response to HR1 and called for the extension of the fund. We disagree that CT can’t fill the holes, especially if we reclaim the Trump tax cuts for the wealthiest amongst us. We can do better.
Very good to hear the Governor emphasize efficiency, to call out Eversource and UI’s lobbying while calling for PURA to not be bullied
Also glad to hear the Governor call for universal affordable healthcare. We still need to help LOI’s with more than just primary care and need to see if the CT option really moves the needle on this front
@ctcag.bsky.social Governor Lamont opening his speech talking about about Minnesota and concluding contrasting it to CT while exclaiming ICE OUT was powerful and appropriate for these timed.
