Coaching is not the same as teaching.

Teaching follows a structured syllabus to prepare someone for an exam or specific knowledge. Coaching, however, is about helping people think critically, ask questions, and develop their own problem-solving skills.

It’s about fostering not just memorising

Olympic lifts should form the basis of all #GAA training programmes

They might not be new and fancy but they are still the best

If as a #GAA player, Olympic lifts don’t form the main component of your S&C if afraid your all ready starting 3 points behind

S&C coaches may not what to go here, but the reason they are missing from programmes is because it’s difficult to coach!

There’s no doubt in my mind that if you want to make a significant improvement in 2025 then you need to start using data effectively!!

Data allows you to be better, it creates opportunities and above all, it’s not rocket πŸš€ science 🧬

Systems vs. Structure:
1. Structure Thinking: Focuses on the pieces
2. Systems Thinking: Focuses on the connections.
3. The Balance: Use structure to ground the system and systems thinking to keep it evolving.

Think beyond the piecesβ€”understand how they work together.

This clip highlights:

3v3 and 12v11= risk 🚨
3scores in football are of value βœ…
TO’s are going to be costly

Pros can’t convert in optimal conditions these shots yet In wet, windy conditions under a tackle we’ll see 2 pointers being the only show in town 🫀

Come on childer!!

It’s it worth comparing the new rules in Gaelic football to basketball……

Maybe as a very lose reference point but that’s about the long and short it it! Certainly not within the margin to consider it a highly relevant indicator

There’s simply too many differences in the game

There’s a small bit of hysteria that’s getting a lot of attention atm with regards the rule changes.

In particular there 12v11 position

Let’s remember that under the current rules the same +1 already exists if teams want to play that way

Under the new rules it’s a higher risk game to play

Image shows how two different opponents set up against this team!

Both opponents conceded the short kickout allowing 100% retention

The outcomes however where different

Can you spot them?

While Team B only conceded 0-3 off KOs. Their decision to drop off limits turnover opportunities in good areas and therefore limits scoring return. Their successful TOs were in deep areas of the pitch.

Interesting pattern. The right side always a challenge from a conversion perspective.

Overall, team A forced 23 KOs to 17 so I imagine they dominated Team
B kick out with a high press therefore the turning over in good attacking areas against unstructured defence.

The first wides are being hit from scoreable areas which is a concern that the drop of presented greater opportunities

Growing number of counties insist FRC rule changes be restricted to inter-county only in 2025 Counties contacted by the Irish Examiner in all four provinces have spoken about the logistical and personnel difficulties that will be faced at club.

I really hope that those voting at congress push the rules through at each level

Refs and ensuring pitches are lined out should not be a reason to separate the games identity

Refs will be supports by the new rules

Since the trials it’s been those negative comments ive seen
