💡 Achille Hannoset from the @ec.europa.eu notes that community energy allowed villages in Spain to keep the lights on during the recent black-out, but underlines local solutions should never sacrifice broader solidarity.
Irina Zahorodnia from RePower Ukraine notes the sudden awareness in the country on how highly centralised energy systems increases their vulnerability -- as demonstrated from long black-outs caused by Russian attacks.
Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Lithuania has made changes to deploy renewables and develop energy democracy.
A portion of the grid was reserved for prosumers and remote energy communities.
The result? New prosumers deployed solar at a much faster rate than big PV farms.
