I don’t think so. System inertia and the reliability of a gas plant Is tough to replicate. You could theoretically have a grid with excess renewable power with storage and gas speakers as the final piece for reliability. But I don’t know in the near future where you can get rid of gas peakers

Those 3% of the time it’s running is probably vital to keep the grid from failing where solar is in excess and not needed most of the time it is running
