im always in awe of how my parents left their life to come here but hearing it from another perspective really hit hard today.

she was adamant that she lost all her strength when she came to Canada but i told her she’s a strong woman in my eyes and an amazing mother and that she’ll get through this.

she was a high school teacher back in afghanistan but here she’s trying to learn the language, juggle her 4 kids while her husband works all day, and be a stay at home mom.

i commended her on her bravery and selfless but told her it’s not the end of her life but rather a new chapter.

the mom i met with today for a parents teacher meeting started crying after our interview as she told me how she left afghanistan so that her 2 daughters could have a life but “her life ended”
