Some of the best days, and don’t let anyone tell you that’s not work. It is work, yet also can bring joy. Good luck!

Frankenstein (1910). Kind of wild to consider that its release is closer in time to the publication of Mary Shelley's 1818 novel than to the present day
All is well here, but needing to get back to Éire.
The brilliant @ciarab.bsky.social talking about the release of the 1926 Irish census and how census research opens windows onto both your family’s past and the state’s past.
Outsider who spent significant time in Melbourne last year, & observed that—in comparison to my US hometown, where PT use is relatively low—PT use *seemed* comparatively higher already. Possible that making it free would enhance that difference but maybe not for those whose access to PT is limited?

#IrishDiasperialism Very interesting display coming next week at the @nmireland.bsky.social focused on the Catalpa Mission through which US-based Fenians rescued 6 from Fremantle in Western Australia. Links across Diaspora, Empire, & anti-colonial networks.
Excellent work done on 17th century, including Cromwellian Era, by the likes of Trinity College Dublin historians, inc. Micheál Ó Siochrú and Jane Ohlmeyer. High-level history, but as title of Micheál’s 2009 book (God’s Executioner) suggests, Cromwell still not seen in a glowing light.

Good shout out to @chrischirp.bsky.social's "Trump Action Tracker" in the new @vdeminstitute.bsky.social Democracy report.
The tracker documents actions and statements of Trump and his administration: "704 directly undermining democracy, 459 weakening civil rights, 689 suppressing dissent"
Didn’t they say he wouldn’t be able to get things done because he was young and untested?
Can’t wait to hear about your travels!
NBC’s Richard Engel: “The White House meme campaign is outraging many former US military commanders… they say only someone who has never really seen combat would think it’s a joke and put out material like this.”
Congratulations!
It’s a ‘hobby,’ a lifestyle choice, a weekend with the lads, just a way to spend a little time each day, ‘hey the (disgraced) former king used to hang out with guys dressed like this.’ I’m in.
A fun 🧵for those building out reading on the Great War
MEMORANDUM OPINION February 16, 2026 “All history was a palimpsest, scraped clean and reinscribed exactly as often as was necessary. In no case would it have been possible, once the deed was done, to prove that any falsification had taken place.” George Orwell, 1984' As if the Ministry of Truth in George Orwell's 1984 now existed, with its motto "Ignorance is Strength," this Court is now asked to determine whether the federal government has the power it claims—to dissemble and disassemble historical truths when it has some domain over historical facts. It does not. The President's House is a component of Independence National Historical Park that commemorates the site of the first official presidential residence and the people who lived there, including people enslaved by President George Washington. On January 22, 2026, the National Park Service ("NPS") removed panels, displays, and video exhibits that referenced slavery and information about the individuals enslaved at the President's House. Plaintiff City of Philadelphia ("the City" filed this lawsuit under the Administrative Procedures Act ("APA") against the Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum…

An order will be entered.

Happy Presidents Day.

🧵On the sites the DHS is purchasing to convert into prison camps for detainees. More than $500m spent already, & localities often learn of the plans after the fact. What are the entities who refit the sites? Who will run them? What about local infrastructure capacity (& tax implications)?
This data deserves as wide an audience as you’ve got.
