In 4th grade with Miss Bates. She had the skirt with the tule petticoat and all. It was the highlight of her year… not necessarily our year. Around ‘77.

I just used my 5 Calls app to call my senators & congressman to voice my concern & outrage about a deranged POTUS willing to commit genocide. It didn’t take that long & every voice adds strength.

I spent that much for a double scoop of gelato at a fancy place at the Americana at Brand in Glendale, Ca. Much fancier than BR. Yikes!

I have a student who will run in between classes to check out his comfort book (Percy Jackson & LT) when he is having a hard day.

Books are comforting & grounding.

I listened to as many as I could during lockdown. It was very soothing.

Also listened to lots of Oscar Wilde plays. I think my alter ego might be Lady Bracknell.

I used to reread The Chronicles of Narnia when I was home sick, now reread Jasper Fforde’s Thursday Next novels. I also like to listen to Terry Pratchett’s Discworld novels. I ❤️ Granny Weatherwax & Sam Vimes.

This was one of the first librarian love notes I received!
This student came by to visit (now in college) and told me it's still one of her favorite comfort reads.

Editing my papers was a long process. But it slowed me down and forced me to think things through. Became a better writer from this process.

A friend took me to see it. I knew nothing about it and had zero expectations. I absolutely 💯 LOVED it. Loved everything about it. Can’t wait to see it again!

I hadn’t been to a movie theater in 3 almost 3 years. Went and saw it in IMAX. Totally worth it. ❤️ed it. Am taking a friend to see it next week.

Twice.

Twice I walked out to put the trash bins on the curb.
Couldn’t figure out why my neighbors didn’t realize it was Thursday yet.

Why isn’t it Thursday?

Oh, I feel your pain.

20 minute lesson on accessing & using the databases. Made them repeat 3xs before they started independent work: Schoology, App center, clever, ProQuest eLibrary, ProQuest eLibrary, then search.

20 students at my desk asking where the databases were.

Yep. Every time.

Reminds me of the first time I ate coconut cake. Boy did I love all that flaked coconut on the frosting. Boy did I get a fright.

Orwell was so prescient. I remember reading 1984 in high school & thinking, wow he's so pessimistic about humans. Now, in term 2, I realize he was realistic about man's evil tendencies.

All I know is that I'm living, I'm trying to make a difference, but it's so hard to breathe and feel joy.
