I wish these studies could translate their metrics for "light," "moderate," and "vigorous" into more accessible terms. METs or METmin are tough enough to get out of a smartwatch and app, and ">400milligravity" is pretty opaque. Does this translate to %MaxHR, for example?
Unbelievable. The power of doubtmongering.👇
📣 TO BE CLEAR: vaccines hugely studied & have saved millions and millions of lives, mostly children.

Oz is the same person he’s always been over the last 15 years —> now he just has power.
Disappointed to see how many people sane wash the guy for profit motives.
He continues to say ridiculous and embarrassing statements in an attempt masquerade as a serious person.
He is a charlatan.
These people are making extremely dangerous choices and convincing others to do the same. Plasmapheresis is a risky medical procedure with absolutely no benefit for healthy people. Whoever is performing this for Rogan and his ilk should not be allowed near patients.

"The evidence for these things vs the claims that people make is essentially empty."
Me: "classic case of 'science-ploitation' (using language of real science to push unproven bunk).
Since there is little we can currently do about the genetic factors, looking for potentially modifiable aspects of aging biology seems worthwhile. Sadly, this too often leads to injudicious extrapolation from preliminary research and a proliferation of "influencers."
Previous analyses found a much lower genetic influence because the population studied was born when environmental risk factors shortened lifespan more severely than today, leaving less room for genes to work. The "heritability" of lifespan seems somewhat contextual.

When Oz says “things your family used to do for you” he’s talking about unpaid, undervalued, mostly female labor back in a time when fewer women had to work outside the home, and families were also much bigger. It’s misogynistic as hell, and ignores today’s economic realities.
You can’t ban conversion therapy, which increases risk of suicide. But you can ban gender affirming care, which decreases risk of suicide. It’s almost like, and hear me out, they want people that they don’t think should exist to…not exist. Hell, if it does exist, will be cozier than they deserve.
Chiropractic Paleoanthropologists Discover Neanderthal Subluxations
“After a consensus vote confirmed their findings, the team set out to explain why the C-4, C-6, T-2, T-8, L-4, and L-5 vertebrae were affected in the two Neanderthals.”

“Vice President JD Vance thinks aliens are visiting earth and that they are Demons” is the most “I wish Carl Sagan were alive” moment I’ve had in a while.
Not just funny, but a great illustration of cognitive bias... 😂

A while ago, we launched WormsAndGermsMap, for crowd-based reporting of infectious diseases in companion animals
It didn't really work out, in large part because the tech wasn't ready (at least in our $ range)
But, since tech (and diseases) have advanced, we're trying again

Yes, increased cost is important. But more important in my opinion is that more kids, mostly poor black kids, will suffer pain, infections, missed school days, worse sleep, etc, and all because of garbage pseudoscience fueled misinformation and disinformation.
Biology is complex. Everything has risks and benefits. Maybe fresh diets do more good than harm, but we shouldn't assume they do no harm.

We finally have a cure for FIP, but it’s not FDA approved. In fact it’s technically not legal, FDA will look the other way if we are using it for FIP. Now we have vets using it for enteric corona or FCGS. Not only risking resistance, but enforcement. By @scottweese.bsky.social #Vetmedsky
Not surprising, but yet another study shows potentially dangerous bacteria in raw pet food. Really no benefits to feeding raw, so the risk just isn't worth taking!

I tried decals but still had a bird strike. They may help but more intrusive coverings may be more effective. I eventually went with paracord every 4 inches, and so far so good! abcbirds.org/solutions/pr...
There’s no evidence that an alcohol swab before injections of vaccines has any effect on infection. One small RCT shows no benefit. Looking from a #onehealth standpoint, we don’t wipe visibly clean animal skin before pretty much any SQ or IM injection. I’ve *never* seen an infected injection site.

I've been seeing a bunch of posts lately from so-called "animal communicators," This is nonsense, emotionally manipulative and wrong. No one should make important medical or life decisions based on this kind of fantasy. skeptvet.com/2010…
That's how I felt about Arcane. Good is good, regardless of the medium or intended audience.
