Heather Cox Richardson, on Trump and Iran:
"What Trump did with Iran was kick a hornets' nest. And then he stomped on the hornets' nest. And then he rolled on the hornets' nest."

TRANSLATION: "The Iranians are refusing to talk to us and I just saw my approval has sunk to 32%, so I don't dare use bombs and nukes like want. So I'll just lie about the actual situation and no one but me will know."
We are absolutely going to see that 32% approval sink down into the 20s. I doubt it'll go lower than 20...because there are some MAGAts who won't stop eating their chili even after they find a severed thumb in it.
In February 1777, General George Washington ordered the first mass immunization campaign in American history by mandating that his troops be inoculated against smallpox. He protected the Continental Army from an epidemic that was deadlier than British forces.
249 years later, we have this idiot.

Trump pardons allies who boost his crypto coin.
Trump invests in corporations that he's supposed to be regulating.
Trump cuts deals with autocrats to advance his family's real estate business.
The list goes on.
We must not become numb to this corruption.
THAT'S majorly weird. I'll report it to BlueSky.
I CAN'T think of Hal. That movie upset me so badly that I've never wanted to rewatch it. It was THE most deeply disturbing thing I've ever seen. Even worse than violence, in my view, because it was profoundly dehumanizing, bleak, and horrifying.
I wish with all my heart I could strap him to a chair and force him to listen to me read this article aloud at least three times.

BlueSky STILL isn't fixed. Twice now I haven't seen your replies in my Notifications. I have to check your new posts instead. 🙄
Kevin Warsh just lost me. He argues he's going to be an independent Fed Chair, but refuses to acknowledge that Trump lost the 2020 election. If you can't state simple facts when you're in the political spotlight, you aren't independent. You're a coward.
BLESS EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THESE FINE PEOPLE. youtu.be/DxzbpLti72I?...
Thank you so much for this gift link, Jennifer.
It broke my heart. I just hate how human stupidity kills people and leaves their families grieving for the rest of their lives.
Keep the faith, and let's keep working to build not just a better world but smarter, reality-based human beings, too.
PLEASE read and share this. It's heartbreaking and gives painful reality to the consequences of Brainworm Kennedy's propaganda. Keep hammering home the truth: vaccines do NOT cause autism, and preventable diseases kill children and cause parents pain for the rest of their lives.
WOW - those are really really good, my friend!!!! You have real talent! I envy that so much, because I can't even draw a decent stick figure.
I love my wife. I woke up with this in my head, and I think it’s important to enjoy the songs you associate with your partner.
Things are hard out there. Be good to each other.
Let's start the day with a happy, loving doggie. youtu.be/rH5mdaWcM1s?...

Night view of Notre-Dame on Paris and the Saint-Jacques Tower by Brassaï
That is a great photo. My favourite by Gyula Halász dit Brassaï, is his "Night view of Notre-Dame on Paris and the Saint-Jacques Tower" from 1933.
I LOVE this - thanks for sharing! It really makes me want to go back in time and live in that era...even though 1933 was a seriously rough year for so many people.
I hereby nominate FTS as America's Official Mood during the Trump regime.
Sorry to post this for those who abhor seeing this kind of news about wildlife. But while we are collectively agonizing over the state of our nation, the state of our planet is probably the more urgent news.

How tragic that you could publish, then re-publish, then re-publish, then re-publish, then re-publish a cartoon like this over and over again...
Credit where credit is due:
This photo is called "Les Escaliers De Montmartre." It's by French/Hungarian photographer Brassaï, and as best I can tell he published it in 1936 or 1937 (there are different dates on various fine arts web sites).
A face on spiral galaxy & massive swirl of stars.

Esmerelda approves of your choice and sends you warm purrs in celebration of your new arrival!
Esmerelda has the "I saw the bottom of my food bowl and I'm going to starve to death!!!!" screechies today. She was literally wandering through the whole house screaming and I didn't know why until I realized there were just a few kibbles in her bowl.
What a drama queen.
@hcrichardson.bsky.social Ooo -- major bitch slap, right here. If only there was a historian somewhere who might care to comment on this...
