I used to teach phonological rule notation using titles of songs that were popular in the 90s. It worked in the late 2000s, but I couldnāt use most of them by the mid-2010s
My book goes to Congressš„°! Rep. Desaulnier recently quoted The AI Con in the US House subcommittee on Health, Employment, Labor, and Pensions. This is why "AI" will make our jobs worse.

Yellow crocus flowers
Blue hyacinth flowers about to bloom
Hyancinth flower buds
Sad Iāll be missing the hyacinths in full bloom, but here they are coming up alongside the crocuses
This guy gets it.
There is a way to prevent AI from scraping your data, but it's an ancient magic that comes with a steep cost

Many are appropriately outraged by Altmanās comments here implying that raising a human child is akin to ātrainingā an AI model.
This is part of a broader pattern where AI industry leaders use language that collapses the boundary between human and machine.

Today, once again, this.
Just wrote Vancity a very angry email: they forced me to switch from the old banking app to the new one, then locked me out of the new app cos they want to update it. š¤¦

r/analytics ⢠IOh We just found out our AI has been making up analytics data for 3 months and I'm gonna throw up. Support So we've been using an Al agent since November to answer leadership questions about metrics. It seemed amazing at first fast answers, detailed explanations, everyone loved it. I just found out it's been hallucinating numbers this entire time. Our VP of sales made territory decisions based on data that didn't exist. Our CFO showed the board a deck with fake insights. The Al was just inventing plausible sounding percentages. I only caught it by accident when someone asked me to double check something. I started digging, and holy shit, it's bad.

The 'AI discourse' (may the gods and goddesses of the literary form forgive me for using this terrible phrase) has uncovered a legion of terrible dudes. With each turn of the screw, they reveal themselves to be stupider, more dishonest and dreadful.
That is true. But still!
So⦠not satire?

Listening to Bon Jovi singing in Mandarin was a novelty, I donāt think I need to do it again.

I am exhausted by AI hype. AI doomerism is 100% more AI hype.
A *lot* of harm is being done in the name of AI.
If that harm is too hard to keep looking at, then you get this kind of nonsense:
