Plugging away on a book chapter on smeared makeup in film and was astonished to learn that the infamous lipstick scene in 1990’s Wild at Heart was totally unscripted, according to actress Diane Ladd. David Lynch apparently loved it and kept it in the film. www.vulture.com/article/dian...

In honor of the recently opened Blusher exhibition, for National Lipstick Day here is a delightful ca. 1940s lipstick “palette” from the Fuller Brush Co., which I included in my essay in the exhibition catalog. 🎨💄
