Based on latest observations and model guidance, it appears that the bulk of the rain will hold off until closer to sunset. Still can't rule out a stray shower this afternoon tho. HRRR model gives its best guess:
well, Patience, rain might come!
Not much rain making it to the ground as the front marches east. Soon, the wind will shift and the temp will drop. Temp at sunset ~50º. Those with outdoor activities need to be ready for post frontal rain and thunderstorms. No severe weather is expected. Radar at 930am.
Saturday Showers Followed By "Cooler" Temps.

We are on record watch today. Will we get to 90? 91? More on the heat the cool down and the chance for storms, all in the blog later today.
8:12p / Severe winds and heavy rain have moved off to our east, but rain will continue for a little bit longer. We'll take all the rain we can get.
7:37p / Pretty much everyone will see some strong(er) winds along this gust front (dashed white line) in front of the storms. Majority of heavy rain/small hail confined to Davidson Co. It'll be out of here sooner than later - Severe Tstorm Warning continues until 8p. YT Live here: buff.ly/vpCcP2W
If you have any wind damage and/or hail (compared to the size of a coin), please report it using #tspotter - thanks! Location and pictures also helpful.
7:22p / Strongest wind/rain quickly approaching I-65 as the line moves E. Would not recommend driving in this. Hooray for washing the pollen/dust off everything. We are still live here www.youtube.com/watch?v=nw3a...
7:10p / New Severe Thunderstorm Warning for essentially all of Davidson Co. for the potential of wind gusts up to 60mph and perhaps some small hail. No tornado concerns. We are live here www.youtube.com/watch?v=nw3a...
The northern storm is stronger than the southern storm, but both packing a punch. We'll see how they evolve as they get closer. 6:48 pm
New severe thunderstorm warning comes right up to our western border as a hailer got going back in Dickson County. 60 mph winds and half-dollar size hail in that thang. Hoping it settles down before getting here. 6:46 pm
6:38 pm, best guess is 40-50 mph winds just ahead of the storms. Lightning in Bellevue now could move further E into Davidson Co shortly way ahead of the main event. Main event is 45 min-1 hr away.
Our lightning data shows a cloud to ground strike dropped out of this little cell around Riverwalk. Could end some ball games early around Bellevue. 6:37 pm
Some ETAs... Joelton 7:13, White's Creek 7:16, Downtown Nashville 7:22. No warnings currently in effect.
NWS observing the weakening trend in this complex of storms. They have started a transition from severe thunderstorm warnings to special weather statements, implying that winds are expected to stay in the 50 mph or less range. We'll be watching every scan for changes to this. 6:27 pm
NWS does not plan to issue a severe thunderstorm watch before this line gets here with the expectation that it weakens as it moves our way. BUT, I'd give your friends a heads up if they're outside just in case this thing holds together. A warning may be the first thing we get.
6:04 pm, the white line depicts where a surge of cool air has been driven out ahead of the storms. So, expect a cool wind out of the NW (likely with a shelf cloud) as this complex rolls in over the next hour.
First severe thunderstorm warning for Middle TN goes to Stewart County. This complex is *expected* to weaken the further E it goes. Whether or not that happens by the time it reaches us is ??. Gusty winds the main threat. Could be here as early as 7 pm if it keeps up. 5:46 pm
430pm update from NWS Nashville. Forecast is still on track. Timing for us is still likely 8-10pm for storms to arrive our counties. We'll keep watching.
The noon update from SPC kept everything the same.
Damaging wind: 5%
Damaging hail: 5%
Low-End Chance For A Strong Storm This Evening, More Rain Saturday PM.
Latest details here nashvillesevereweather.com/2026/04/16/l...
As expected, our drought worsened over the last week with no meaningful rainfall occurring. Severe drought now for our two counties. Not great Bob.
Low end severe risk this evening. Timing for main line is between 6 and 10 pm according to the HRRR. Damaging wind and large hail are the main threat, but 5% for each. More in the blog later today.
Another one of these "different" outlooks we don't see often from SPC. 'Elevated' fire danger for Wednesday thanks to low relative humidity, gusty winds and dry conditions. Outdoor burning is highly discouraged.
