Funder databases and bibliographic sources each tell different stories about funded research. I compared funding records from South Korea's NTIS with WoS and OpenAlex to show how combining them gives a fuller picture of funded outputs and where the gaps remain. Read more: doi.org/10.31235/osf...

LLMs in R - Quick Wins A fun, practical approach to learning how to work with LLMs in R. This is a course for anyone looking to get a quick overview of the most important aspects of working with the ellmer package.

I took the contents of my workshop at RainbowR on the topic of LLMs in R & made it into a course! It's about {ellmer}, and I spent soo long agonising over how to sell it, I gave up & instead released it under a "Pay What You Want" model 😅😂 #rstats #llms #ai

Diamond Open Access: A Boutique Model for Scholarly Publishing? - pulse49.com Diamond Open Access: A Boutique Model for Scholarly Publishing? Can DOA transform scholarly publishing—or will it remain a niche model?

Diamond OA is normatively attractive — but structurally limited. Not an industrial-scale replacement for scholarly publishing, but a tailored solution for specific communities. That may be enough.

We need to talk about better metadata in Crossref and DataCite. ROR id, ORCIDs, the lot.

In an age of AI bots that attack our open infrastructure, we also need to discuss whether papering over the gaps with industrial grade website scraping is appropriate or sustainable.
