New paper alert! In the US, people view East Asians as prototypically Asian, especially compared to South Asians. This has implications for representation in #StopAsianHate, and it affects how hate crime reports are evaluated.

I love this, but Iām not loving the weight loss ads that Iām getting when I read the article.
Wow, Iām sorry. His snark and minimizing and reframing of the point you were trying to make as a criticism of you is really not on. Does he do this often? I mean⦠once is enough. Iām sorry. It canāt feel good. Sigh.
Iāll be honest and say I had to mute his name for a bit because my feed was becoming exclusively about him and nothing else. It was a little jarring!
I donāt usually get along with children but last night my friendās kid alternated between calling me āAuntie Irishā āļø and āAuntie Virusā š¦ which amused me to no end.
Something arty, like paintjam or an introduction to linocutting class? You donāt necessarily have to be artistic to still enjoy these activities! (Iām on a quest to make IRL adult friends too, so good luck with yours!)
Growing up, we had one of those Underwood cast iron typewriters but my mother had to get rid of it while I was away in grad school⦠thatās a regret of mine. But those things are huge and I wouldnāt have the space for it now anyway.
Out of curiosity, do you have one? Iāve currently got a 1950s Underwood 310, which is nothing to look at but works well. It used to belong to a chef working on a P&O liner that (presumably) docked in Hong Kong sometimes. Iām trying to bring home a second typewriter! (One can never have too manyā¦)
Today was not a good art day; the bush I tried to paint in the foreground of the scene ended up looking like broccoli. I was dismayed at first but now I am chuckling. š¤
I do not need another journal. I do not need another journal. I do not need another journal.
*Proceeds to buy another journal*
I will never not be a stationery addict.
Please look at this giant panda named He Hua who is famous for being shaped like onigiri.
Nice people are struggling over the revelations on Gaiman, and something I keep hearing is, 'His work had a big influence on how I shaped my own identity.' So here's something to remember:
You did that. He didn't do it for you. 1/
One bad apple, right? *massive sigh* š®āšØ
I need to rewatch it too. And yeah⦠I cannot count the times I had to give up on art/tv show/music/books because itās tainted by the artist. I get the disappointment but the choice is a no-brainer.
It dismays me how often I see that āseparate art from the artistā idea bandied about as some sort of absolution or excuse for problematic behaviour or outright abuse by said artist. One of the reasons why I loved Nanette so much. Gadsby articulated it in a way I never could. Have you seen it?
As someone who also left academia for similar reasons, I applaud you and wish you the best!
Look: The thing you need to understand about genAI is that every Next Big SV Thing of the last 15 yearsāNFTs, Web3, Metaverse, VRāhas been utterly rejected by the market and the tech grifters know this is their last chance, no more. Thatās why there is an apocalyptic level of capital invested in it.
Please listen to this possum named Begonia monching
Iām almost afraid to ask⦠May I know the film so I can know to avoid it?
Welcome back!
We're at that stage of capitalism where the pursuit of profit is no longer enough to slake the oligarchs' ravenousness. They have more money than they could spend in a billion lifetimes, so now they want total control. They've hollowed out their souls so thoroughly that domination is their next fix.
I picked up this new Tsuen Wan Walking Map by the HK Tourism Commission today to send to a friend, and one of the recommended sights was the Tsuen Wan Noise Barrier, because itās-and I quote-āknown as the Senbon Torii of Hong Kongā. This made me cringe so hard. Sigh.
This is not a recommendation really, because Iām sure it wonāt be archival, but in a pinch, cooked rice smooshed up makes for a good glue stick-like adhesive.
This is the best thing I have ever read on social media, ever. Iām cry laughing!
THIS IS HUGE! Researchers at Stanford Medicine have devised an influenza vaccine that prompts immunity to ALL four major flu subtypes AND shows potential against bird flu, indicating a significant advancement in flu prevention and a potential increase in vaccine efficacy. Letās talk about that! š§Ŗš§µā¬ļø
Iāve had some painful encounters with the turnstiles and gates before so Iām guilty of doing this. I shall henceforth be brave and doot-and-stride with abandon!
I try to understand people but sometimes - no, oftentimes - I cannot. Especially not people who insist on always being right and people who do not admit to having biases. Everyone has biases, and thatās just human! But to be blind to the fact that one has them is the bit that stymies me. /End.
Just a little bit of research will turn up some things that were not great about his presidency, because no one is perfect. But somehow with my friends there was this insistence on, well, deifying him. Itās a little mind boggling. 3/
