❗️ Due to latest events, we remind that freedom of expression in Armenia must remains fully protected, while any limitations must comply with international human-rights standards, pursue legitimate aims, and be necessary in a democratic society.

It is important to safeguard equality before the law and ensuring that pre-trial detention is used only as a measure of last resort, in line with European standards. It is concerning that pre-trial detention is applied frequently. We encourage to strengthen judicial oversight.

On March 19 Armenia hosted @martakos.ec.europa.eu , who had meetings to discuss EU-AM summit, VLAP and the #CEPA implementation.

We are concerned about instances of excessive use of force by
Armenian Police in 2025 and 2026, and we remind about the need to strengthen independent and effective investigations into such cases, ensuring accountability and public trust.

Last year there were 2 new milestones: new EU-Armenia Partnership Agenda (we call it CEPA+) and VLAP! These r ambitious framework complementing #CEPA on security, resilience, diversification & regulatory approximation. Must be implemented inclusive, transparent & rights-based way

We emphasise the need to accelerate reforms in the rule of law, justice, public administration, human-rights protection, policing & penitentiary and probation services, & calls for strengthened efforts to ensure transparent, effective & timely implementation of these reforms.

We Welcome the ratification of the Framework Participation Agreement enabling Armenia's participation in 🇪🇺 crisis-management missions, representing a significant step in deepening cooperation on security, defense and human-security standards.

Such return must be accompanied by effective and verifiable guarantees for the protection of the rights and security of returnees, including through adequate international monitoring arrangements agreed by the parties.

We call @ec.europa.eu to continue using diplomatic, political & economic instruments to enable safe, dignified and voluntary return of forcefully displaced Armenians from Artsakh Republic, in full respect of international law, including Order of 17 November 2023 International Court of Justice.

In November, the draft was published on threshold for air pollution amounts. Another competent of package that should improve the air in long term. This draft was adopted in February 2026!

In August, The Government of Armenia adopted decree on air quality standards, measurement methods, and stations regulations. Together with other laws, this must ensure cleaner air by 2035.

In August, the Armenian Government approved amendments in Waste Management Act, which will introduce a designated body, regulations and monitoring of waste and landfills. This will be approximation to 2008/98/EC.

Draft is published on designating culminating levels and agglomerations, which is for long-term regulations on air quality.

The Commission also introduced an online tool called "Consumer assistant". While not having enough mandates yet, it can help consumers to file complaints, pass them to the business, and if necessary mediate.

In July The Competition Protection Commission became a Competition and Consumer Protection Commission! Long overdue and congrats to consumers, despite the regulations are yet to be adjusted!
Some adjustment were done in Consumer Protection Act.

In July, the government rectified the national laws per request of Constitutional Court, allowing police worker to unionize. This is welcoming development, despite freedom of assembly obstructions in Ministry of Internal Affairs.

In July, a draft was published to extend the responsibilities for producer. If advanced, this law may further improve the product quality and consumer rights.

In May, the government adopted the 2025-2030 Action Plan for Air Protection. Very crucial document, considering the total disaster of Armenia's air quality.

The major labor market challenge in Armenia remains the illegal employment - when employers hire workers without a contract. This is a serious violation, yet not easy to detect.

But currently, the scope of inspections of even evident violations are severely limited.
