my youngest grandson returns from The Waste. No food again, just metal scraps. But he's so proud, and wants a reward.

"Tell me again about The Great Before. Tell me why The Green went away," he begs.

"in the Before," I begin, "people had questions about who should participate in women's sports..."

NANCY PELOSI: We must find the next generation of Democratic leadership. Young, charismatic and exciting candidates who can energize the party. People that voters love because they're not 80 years old and sold out to big capital.

65 Percent of People Taken by ICE Had No Convictions, 93 Percent No Violent Convictions ICE’s deportation agenda is not what is being advertised to the American public. ICE is not interested in prioritizing public safety, yet it constantly pretends that anyone who objects to its tactics ...

From the Cato Institute; this one is worth reading.

Topline: "nonpublic data from ICE indicate that the government is primarily detaining individuals with no criminal convictions of any kind."

Don't let their lies dominate the narrative.

When I interviewed KKK leaders in Arkansas, this is what they said too. “We don’t hate anyone. We just love our own people.” Then they burned a cross.

DOGE should absolutely be subject to FOIA. It has openly claimed and exerted independent legal authority. Trump has said Elon calls shots. They aren’t policy advisors. Congress just choosing to pretend DOGE isn’t using powers delegated to others is not evidence of anything but its own incompetence.

CCI’s Rohit Malhotra announces run for Atlanta City Council president - SaportaReport Read CCI’s Rohit Malhotra announces run for Atlanta City Council president by Maria Saporta for SaportaReport here.

Very excited to see that Rohit Malhotra is running for Atlanta City Council president –– it's genuinely important that he defeats his opponent, who has repeatedly voted for Cop City, to keep the jail open, and to enhance criminal penalties.

Even Yellowstone National Park costs taxpayers one-third of an F-35 fighter jet each year.

It's literally the best fucking deal in the entire federal government - generating 50 billion dollars in tourist revenue every year for an investment of only $3 billion.

Pritzker: It’s time for us to be done with optimism about their motives. Time to stop wondering if you can trust the nuclear codes to people who don’t know how to organize a group chat. It’s time to stop ignoring the hypocrisy in wearing a big gold cross while announcing the defunding of children’s cancer research… Autistic kids and adults who are loving contributors to our society don’t deserve to be stigmatized by a weird nepo baby who once stashed a dead bear in his car. Our military service members don’t deserve to be told by a washed-up Fox TV commentator, who drank too much before being appointed Secretary of Defense, that they can’t serve their country simply because they are Black, gay, or a woman.

From the Wikipedia entry on Celia Cooney, the Bobbed Haired Bandit: "Enright continued to be heavily criticized for his inability to catch Cooney, as they robbed more stores. As the robberies continued, Enright stepped up his efforts to catch Cooney, naming Mary Cody and Rose Moore as suspects. F. Scott Fitzgerald would later claim that his wife Zelda Fitzgerald had been accused of being the Bobbed Haired Bandit, being stopped on Queensboro Bridge in Queens. The newspapers continued to cover the chase, with the New York Herald and others comparing Cooney to a modern-day Robin Hood. Enright soon assembled 850 detectives, and made catching Cooney their top priority, giving the detectives permission to shoot on sight. Despite having an additional 200 policemen on patrol, Cooney still evaded capture."

If you are wondering if police have always been like this, in the 1920's a young woman was robbing grocery stores around Brooklyn and getting press for it because she kept getting away. Despite falsely accusing at least four women already, the cops were given permission to "shoot on sight."

and now Samuel L. Jackson is Uncle Sam at the Super Bowl.

way funnier than the conservatives who hated Kendrick Lamar's Super Bowl halftime show are the conservatives who thought he was doing the ultimate patriotic ode to America

Stop fucking saying he blamed “DEI,” which is some abstract, non-tangible idea. He is blaming people of color having jobs he thinks they aren’t qualified for. He’s blaming race. He’s being racist every time he says it. Journalists need to get fucking backbones, my word.
