finally zohran addresses the issue hellgatenyc.com/mayor-mamdan...

Pretty sure this was plagiarized from a Bill Clinton speech in 1993.
Apparently protecting LGBTQIA+ residents and promoting public health interventions isn’t a core function of City government for Frey. He only cares about the community to the extent that he can grift off of them for political gain.
Very in depth piece on the history of bathhouses in Minneapolis. Sam’s actually been attending the coalition meetings and researching the topic for years which is MPR’s articles have actually been well researched and not just sensationalized looking for clicks.
Hearing about this new anti-democracy policy for the first time via social media, it brought to mind this passage from CM @jchavezmpls.bsky.social’s newsletter from the last time there was an anti-democracy policy brought forward (last week).
To make matters worse, this wasn't even on the agenda for discussion. It was simply a procedural vote to refer to staff so that they could start the policy development work. They CHOSE to spend a bunch of time on it. In nearly two years working here, I'd never seen a staff referral discussion.
The Frey administration has also decided to take away from the city council the power to approve new street layouts.

She calls it a "council meltdown" for them to reject a nominee for cause. Budget overruns, department mismanagement, trying to give a contract to a guy who livestreams violent threats against the council.
Star Tribune find someone who understands how city government really works before writing about the workings of city government challenge (impossible).
Not just this one, so take your pic from articles written the past few days / weeks / months, etc.
We also have a solution for this.
@jchavezmpls.bsky.social is a treasure to Minneapolis. I’ve never seen someone more excited to use a pastry box to send a clear message.
Dear neighbor,
I am frustrated, though unsurprised, to hear that an unelected, undemocratic body—unaccountable to voters—is considering a charter amendment to strip the public of an important role they hold in their government. 1/
You and so many other community members spoke so well about the work y'all are doing in the streets of Minneapolis (not SF or Portland). Thank you!
I can’t think of many things that would be less helpful for a cause I cared about than having Carol Becker speaking in favor it.
yeah man i'll circle back to you on that agenda item from yesterday's all hands in just a sec. our pedophile king just threatened to destroy a whole civilization
It’s pretty wild that Dawanna Witt can participate in this piece like she was just another official fighting back against the occupiers. Not a single mention of her department colluding with the feds throughout the entire occupation.
Bologna is such a great city doing some really progressive things on inclusivity, safe streets, and housing.
In honor of Transgender Day of Visibility (a day late), here’s a picture I took in Bologna a few months ago. 🏳️‍⚧️🇮🇹
La Tortilla brought the truck to our neighborhood weekly starting early in the pandemic. We’ve visited them most weeks since. Our 2 y.o. calls our local brewery “the taco truck” because they’re one and the same to him. We know their family, they know ours.
Please support this community institution.
Chief O’Hara recently stood in front of the council and said it was MPD’s position that in three months, MPD did not see a single, solitary instance of unlawful force by a law enforcement officer against any person in this city.
Less than a week after this piece came out—making it abundantly clear that Folk is a Republican ghoul—the mayor of Minneapolis announced that he's endorsing Folk. Great stuff.

It makes sense that this is who the most conservative council member (Palmisano) is supporting for county attorney.
Anybody else get this text from the North Star Constitutional Defense Fund?
This is the best thing online today.

As a Manchester United fan I rightly expect absolutely no sympathy for the abject state of my club. I will also say: Wenger's Arsenal overwhelmed Manchester United fair and square, while Chelsea and Manchester City didn't, and football as a whole is still paying a huge price for that.
Wenger got mocked and memed for years on end while other clubs, particularly Chelsea, had to break the law repeatedly to beat his Arsenal side. It is shameful but of course capitalism has no shame.
A day after Frey vetoed pre-eviction notice, two ICE vehicles are parked in MPD parking outside City Hall. My assumption would be that they’re here to meet with the mayor’s administration.
We’re still under occupation.
We need your help bringing two pregnant women back home from ICE detention! Their loved ones and community are asking for financial assistance to support the family during these difficult times.
