Today is #NationalHaikuPoetryDay. To celebrate, the Cathedral staff created some haikus about St Edmundsbury. A haiku is a traditional Japanese three-line poem, with the first and third line containing five syllables and the second line containing seven syllables. Post your own in the comments!

You can view the Bury Psalter in the Cathedral Treasury which is open to visitors Monday – Saturday, 10.00 am – 4.00 pm and Sunday, 12.30 pm – 3.00 pm.
The Bury Psalter is unusual in showing both David playing the harp and Jesse’s Tree together. This illuminator - the Bury Master - was inventive and not afraid to push the boundaries, packing in as much symbolism into this first page as possible.
He’s cradled by curving branches that emerge from him and surround all the text on this page. This is his family tree, with the generations nestling into and clinging to its branches, as it winds around the page leading eventually to his descendant Jesus.
To celebrate the Bury Psalter’s return to the Abbey site, we’re taking a closer look at some of its details. Today, we’re looking at the Tree of Jesse. At the foot of the first page of the Psalms, David’s father Jesse lies sleeping....

Our Pram Service is at 10.15 am on select Fridays in the Lady Chapel and lasts for about 10 minutes. We share a short Bible story, a song and a simple prayer. Join us for our next short service on Friday 10 April.

As we await the risen Lord, there is ironing to be done, altars to be dressed and flowers to be arranged. A big thank you to our Vergers, flower arrangers, and everyone who came to help.
Today we wait in quiet reverence at the threshold between the sorrow of the crucifixion and the joy of the resurrection. It is expectant, hopeful and active waiting as preparations take place for the celebrations of Easter.
