It’s harder to remember that the gorgeous kitchen remodel you saw on Instagram belongs to a “normal” family in North Carolina, but they’re actually making a ton of money in commercial real estate. They seem like our peers, but financially they’re not, even if we sometimes go to the same coffee shop

I think this is spot on, and I think TikTok/instagram feed us more lifestyle content from people who are wealthy but not super notable. I think we all understand why our wedding/kitchen/car won’t measure up to the British Royal family’s or a movie star’s, the people who would get a magazine spread
I could be wrong, but I don’t think you save any money or much hassle moving out from Indianapolis to a place in Carmel or Fishers
Flower arrangement with peach-colored roses, hydrangea and tulips
My husband and the good people of Lopshire Flowers in Fort Wayne, they get me
Granted I don’t have access to their internal metrics, but some of the deepest cuts were to sports, metro, arts/entertainment and the international desk. Call me crazy, I just don’t believe Washington Post readers were uninterested in their hometown NFL team, local crime, and tv/movie reviews
Easily the most surprising thing that happened tonight
I have never been more right about anything than I was about Carson Beck. And I told my friends I would marry my now-husband a year and a half before we started dating
He’s been a big enough donor to IU that they’ve been naming stuff after him on campus for at least a decade now
I don't think football teams can use up all their touchdowns in the way that baseball teams use up their runs, but I don't like seeing IU get a good bounce on a punt in a game like this. Save that luck on the off chance you need it against Miami

He's perfect
I will never understand the argument that losing in the Super Bowl is worse than not getting to play at all. "We've lost in the wild card round four years in a row" does not feel any better, I promise you
Amanda marrying Guy when she could've gone for the prize is an all-time blunder
1) different schools have different cultures/strengths/priorities, and that’s good, actually. Not everyone is going to thrive in the same environment
2) that being said, the Ivy League is literally a DI athletic conference. The top-ranked private schools absolutely care about sports, spare me
God football makes me laugh so hard
The AP wire includes significantly less coverage of the NBA/NHL than they did just a few years ago. It would be so helpful if the AP had game stories for all Big Ten women’s basketball games, but I realize that’s not at all likely if they can’t get a photographer to every Pacers game
Honestly if you had told me on Saturday that Brigitte Bardot had died in a speed boat accident in 1978 I would absolutely have believed you
Depends on how attached I am to that wooden surface. If I care at all, nope
This has tickled me for months. There are auto-bids now! The top five conference champs are in! Notre Dame cannot keep USC out of the Big Ten title game. It’s just that Riley can’t imagine USC winning the Big Ten anytime soon, and who am I to say he’s wrong?
In that case, if you’re USC, aren’t you left kicking yourself, knowing that had you played you would’ve had the opportunity to beat ND, knock the Irish out of the playoff race and open up a spot for yourself? Wouldn’t you rather have more control over your fate instead of trusting, say, Clemson?
Ok, so we’re all considering the scenario where the game is played, Notre Dame ends up ranked ahead. Why isn’t USC considering the reverse scenario: They don’t play each other, ND ends up as the fringe-but-in team (10th-12th), and USC, having subbed the ND game for San Jose St, is left out at 13th?
I frankly can’t argue with USC if their position is “seems like that’s going to be a loss for us the next couple years, no thank you,” but doesn’t the committee’s field this year suggest they don’t necessarily punish late losses more than early ones?
I don’t know what I was expecting, but it wasn’t that
There’s only been one time I found out who was offered a job I applied for and didn’t get, and that’s only because I got a slightly different job at the same company soon after — and then ended up marrying that guy who got the first job
I can’t really explain it but I feel like Vikings were a triple option kind of outfit
Omg I looked this up out of curiosity and it’s…a school I visit three to four times a year? What!?
He is never far from my thoughts
(Sincere thought: the version of “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” performed by Rowlf and John Denver is my all-time favorite)
Oh no sorry I didn’t mean to suggest every school is generating the same amount of money, I was referring to the Big Ten deal where all established members get the same cut of TV money. I think it’s safe to guess Michigan makes more in ticket and apparel sales than, say, Northwestern
Sometimes you have to take a step back and realize that every single team we are talking about is bringing in vast amounts of money. Doesn’t mean they’re spending the money wisely, but no one should be crying because (to pick on one random team) Michigan State doesn’t get enough TV money
The flip side: Notre Dame doesn’t share payouts from the playoff if they make it, but if they don’t make it they don’t get anything. Feast or famine.
Honestly, you bring in massive amounts of money either way. But Notre Dame has always liked its coast to coast schedule, and it’s worked really well
