All that is true under normal market circumstances. This is a tech market where the biggest ceos are telling people the entire economy is about to change and the middle class is being turbo shrunk. Gaming consoles might not be a *thing* in the next 5 years.

I'm not misunderstanding you, I'm trying to point out that this is what "shrinking middle class" looks like. Sony doesn't make things for poor people. Games are a luxury item. This is happening across the board in all industries.

Why would they take a hit if they don't need to? You've described reasons why they'd want to revitalize a marketplace they already can afford to lose and also a mindset that you won't buy anything anyway. Why should they care? Why is it surprising they don't?
