School days . . . Room To Move is still etched on my brain. One of those albums which opened other doors. π

The film captures much of the novel's atmosphere. In the book Vianne's rival was the priest. Her antipathy to the church and everything it stands for is clear. I think the studio ran scared of that so the great Alfred Molina instead plays it as the town mayor. The book is excellent. π
I barely saw past the top left. Always The Beatles. ππ»

Ditto! After seeing them for the first time on C4 at the Montreal Jazz Festival, I went out and bought this LP. π
Great post. Quite possibly my No.1 favourite jazz recording. A gorgeous, multi-layered composition with ensemble playing of the highest quality. For me, it's as close to perfect as music gets. (Was a remastered version ever released?) Thanks. ππ»
A friend had a record shop in North Wales. In 1992 a guy came on and asked for "the footie song". It was Nessun Dorma. π

Those ultra-quiet moments on BBC Radio 3 when you think it's gone off and tell Alexa to turn up the volume just as the 96-piece orchestra floors it. π²
I always feel a strong Tony Banks vibe with the keyboard sound on this.
Wise words but I'm sure he had an angle. π
A brilliantly imaginative and brave choice for a second album. I always loved A Certain Kind of Fool as a standout. Significant contributions from Jackson Browne and (a favourite of mine) John David Souther.
Moon River and The Pink Panther alone would guarantee his place among the greats! His partnership with Johnny Mercer produced some gems. ππ»ππ»
Predictable, but Harvest is a Hall of Fame album. My adolescence in vinyl form.

True Love's Gutter is a terrifically atmospheric album. π
"Key change!" π π
I once shook hands with the great Mr Gadd after a superlative trio gig with Michel Petrucciani and Anthony Jackson. Saw him a couple of times with Paul Simon too. A master. ππ»
Another fiendish question! It has to be Close to the Edge. ππ»
It really is a fabulous record. Jon Hendricks adds such atmosphere with his poetry, "One word - Listen!"
Martin Simpson's cover of Dylan's "Boots of Spanish Leather". ππ»
Indeed, the right thing. ππ»
These photos of the victims are gut-wrenching but essential. Such a horror often risks becoming a statistic, the numbers are beyond imagining. We must always remember them as human beings.
I remember Leiber and Stoller saying that when Big Mama was recording Hound Dog the engineer told them she was too loud and asked them to go in and tell her. They both replied, "You go in and tell her!"
Yet another case of a Black artist being shamefully treated, even in this case by Elvis himself.

AndrΓ© Hodeir is a fairly obscure figure today. A classical violinist from Paris, he fell in love with jazz and worked with several luminaries including Donald Byrd. On this enjoyable album the great Kenny Clarke pays tribute.
Pat Metheny & Charlie Haden recording "The Moon Is A Harsh Mistress". Just flawless.
Also, "Stone Cold Sober" by Crawler.
A wonderfully rich, atmospheric record. Joe is on sublime form aided by Wynton Marsalis.
Bravo, Monsieur. ππ»ππ»ππ»
