Love you too

Of course

You know, I don't know what's stranger as an idea: the two of us sitting on the same ugly couch and communicating through posts on a public platform or that but also we're still talking while doing this posting back and forth too.

Sure sure...

Setting aside that though, you've got to get some new material

This is the one you responded to that with? Not the multiple post long explanation of THAC0?

Well, I think it changed in the transition to 3rd Edition by which point Gygax has been gone from officially working on D&D for a while.

Subtract 1 from your own THAC0 because of your bonus (now it's 14) but then add 2 because of the target's own bonuses for themself and you end up with a To Hit Armor Class 0 of 16, thus 16 is the number to meet or beat to hit that target.

THAC0: 15 - 1 + 2 = 16

Still as long as you know your THAC0, you can reverse engineer bonuses and penalties and adjust on a per roll basis. If you have something giving you an extra +1 but the target has something that grants them their own temporary bonus of +2 AC you can pretty easily figure it out still.

AC 0 is the same you'd get with Full Plated Armor and a Shield but nothing else adding to (or subtracting from) that AC.

If a character has a THAC0 of 15 they'd need to roll a 15 or the d20 to land their attack on an AC 0 target. The thing is other factors can come into play, such as magic.

So THAC0 stands for:
To
Hit
Armor
Class
0 (Zero)
It is the benchmark used to determine a character's ability to hit a target (in this case set against AC 0)
Armor Class 0 is actually pretty good, because you start at 10 and lower numbers are better. It can go into the negatives too.

Don't worry I could have gone with something nerdier, maybe the equation for THAC0 or something.

Of all the myriad things I could make a first post that isn't a reply about I choose it to be this: Advanced Dungeons & Dragons 1e had a rule where Fighters could make a number of free attacks against enemies with a Hit Die of 1d6 or 1d4 up to the Fighters level (5th level = up to 5 bonus attacks).

Aye, it's been a good first Father's Day...or whatever we would call it for me but we'll run with the term for now.

It's surprisingly difficult as a little challenge. To be fair it might be the bisexuality that makes it weird for me to imagine finding someone not attractive on the grounds of gender so I just kind of default to assume a character is bi unless it's otherwise specified. Such is life in the zone.

Though at least from personal experience, hearing about all of these main characters just kind of falling for each other because they find each other hot is a reason I kind of feel put off from the genre in the first place and thus why I'm reluctant to try it further. 2/2

I do want to clarify that it is very possible that there are plenty of romance stories out there like this and we just personally don't run into them that much and this is perhaps a consequence of not seeking out capital R capital S Romance Stories 1/2

I mean, Anja is odd — like, is a semi-magical fish person really even going to have a concept of gender similar enough to fit with human norms? (Depends on the story because fantasy is pretty neat like that)

How dare you, ma'am!
