Our #StokerCon virtual panel "Narrative Non-Fiction Horror: Respecting Trauma & Respecting the Dead" w/ my fellow Stoker nominees, magnificent @nytebird45.bsky.social, @momoshaty.bsky.social + journalist JJ Stambaugh. So blessed to have been in this magnificent company; the conversation was amazing.

Thank you!! 😊 One is from the Baldur’s Gate blind bags, the green sparkly ones are from I think the Waterdeep blind bags, and the purple and green ones were another mystery dice bag.

I have a weakness for mystery dice 😂

An assortment of D&D dice and bags

An assortment of D&D dice and bags

Had an amazing time playing D&D at Ironside Axe Club!! We played a one-shot and I loved it so much. 💖💖💖

First time in ages that I've gotten to play (and not be the DM.)

New on the Anthropic settlement from the @authorsguild.org : over 91% (!!) of eligible books were claimed as of the claims deadline (I would not have predicted such a high number!)

Looks like the payout will be close to the $3000 originally estimated authorsguild.org/news/anthrop...

"On est souvent trompé en amour, souvent blessé et souvent malheureux ; mais on aime, et quand on est sur le bord de sa tombe, on se retourne pour regarder en arrière, et on se dit : J’ai souffert souvent, je me suis trompé quelquefois, mais j’ai aimé. C’est moi qui ai vécu, et non pas un être factice créé par mon orgueil et mon ennui."

the clip of Ethan Hawke about being in love, even if the feeling is unrequited, meaning being alive, made me think of that play by Musset

"I often suffered, I erred sometimes, but I loved. I’m the one who lived, not some artificial being born of my pride and boredom."

Currently listening to Stormy Weather by Etta James while drafting a newsletter under another Tornado Watch, then back to revisions (and maybe some drafting as a treat.)

I'm already so over the wild weather this spring.

Ongoing! We've funded our first stretch goal and are super close to the second - chatty Victorian style chapter headings!

And, a Kickstarter Project We Love badge!

Post the best picture you have ever taken of your pet.

Not the best, but some of my favorites. The middle is from when I brought Willow home the day after adopting her mom, Hazel. Willow was four months old and in a foster situation, hence the delay. Their reunion was so sweet

Devastated to read this. I was lucky to meet Adam at conventions years ago and have him sign a few pieces for me. Praying for him and his family

I'm furious that I had to find out about these changes on social media by chance before receiving an email from Draft2Digital. My account is a few years old and I know I'm on their email list. Even when I pulled my books, I was still getting their emails. Disappointed by how this eas handled.

This part, right here.

I only recently started reusing D2D for library distribution in September, not even a whole year. They are STILL publishing on Hoopla (which that uploading time is notoriously slow, but my point still stands that this is frustrating.)

Anyway, goal for tomorrow is to get any of my manuscripts open before either Bluesky or Threads tomorrow.

I have got to go back to not checking my social media (or at least Bluesky and Threads) before my drafting and revision sessions start. Between the D2D changes plus the Barnes and Noble news about print book minimums, I've been *heated* and it's messed with my focus.

@draft2digital.bsky.social used to be THE place for indie authors working on shared revenue projects like anthologies. This new change entirely breaks that model, and makes it basically untenable.

At least Barnes and Noble Press sent an email, but dang. I need to reevaluate if I want my paperback on there because I absolutely do not want to raise the price at other retailers. 🙃

Adding to this: just got an email from Barnes and Noble Press that they're also changing requirements, making things more difficult for indies. I'm deeply annoyed at the new minimum price for print books being $14.99. I have a short $9.99 paperback that makes the most sense at that price point

My birthday present to myself this year was new tattoo. Today was my appointment and I had the best afternoon reading for book club, think about revisions, and spacing out during the spicier bits closer to my knee. Definitely needed to unplug because I feel so much better now!
