I remember when Facebook deliberately messed up people’s feeds to prioritize showing sad posts. I remember back in 2011 or so when Facebook’s default setting was to show people’s location in messenger and not tell people about it. The only thing new here is it gives you the option to opt in.

I get not wanting to speak up as experiences like these can be traumatic. But speaking up makes it easier for the community to realize how much damage was done.
And while nothing will never undo that damage, I’m sure there’s people who want to do something to help those affected.
It’s textbook and I agree that people should learn how to recognize this. It is so scary how long this has been going on for. The anxiety and distress she’s caused people makes me sick.

These are really good notes. Super intrigued.
My hot take is that "safety tools" in TTRPGs are so obviously well-meaning and have a moral high ground that people don't want to have honest talks about the real shortcomings of HOW they are designed/presented that limits their adoption and use.
Today I'm working on my take on a more usable tool.
