I should plan a trip to Washington and take lots of pictures of the National Mall before this gets built.
I am not talking about the ship with its centrifugal gravity. It is about the tabletop centrifuge in the lab that Grace used while experimenting with astrophage. He put two sample tubes next to each other instead of in opposite slots - a big no no in any lab.

Daughter mentioned that many people observed that and there are lots of discussions on the internet about it.Β Canβt believe that no one on the production team caught it.
A couple of minor quibblesβ¦ the ship didnβt need the solar panels as it was far away from any stars most of the time. Any molecular biologist worth his salt would not run an unbalanced centrifuge.
Watched βProject Hail Maryβ and liked it. It was well made - didnβt stray much from the book. Stratt was my favorite character in the book and same with the movie.

Finished reading βProject Hail Maryβ and loved it. Tomorrow, we go to watch the movie in a theater. Hope it will be as good as the book. A lot of this book is first person narration with no other individuals and that can be hard to turn into a film.Β

Oh! I should have mentioned that I used a tracking mount for this. Hence, no star trails with long exposure. π
Thanks! Yes, it is a stack of 30 twenty second images. Can't get the details of the tail in a single exposure.
Got up early this morning to catch Comet 2025 R3 (PANSTARRS). I could easily spot it with binoculars but not with naked eyes. It has such a long tail. Hope it survives its encounter with the Sun and puts on a good display in the evening sky. π #astrophotography

Needle galaxy (NGC4565) is about 40 million ly away towards the constellation Coma Berenices. It is one of the best and brightest example of an edge-on spiral galaxy.

The weekend was so busy and eventful that I am having a hard time remembering what I was doing at work last week. π¬

These days I am using solar energy to power my nightly π astronomy sessions.
Looking forward to the coverage of Integrity landing this evening.

Dark shark nebula (LDN1235) is a faint and dark nebula as its name suggests. It is made of dark dust created in the cooler atmospheres of giant stars. It spans about 15 ly across and is located in the constellation Cepheus at about 650 ly away.
Total exposure: 80 x 3 minute

Last night, I tried out the βplanβ feature in ASIAir. Set it up to go to 3 different targets, start autoguiding and shoot for an hour or two. Over the last few sessions I have gotten comfortable with the π moving by itself without me watching. Canβt wait to process the images when I go home today.
