I left the blanket out after I napped on the floor at lunch, and Finn has made himself a cozy little nest behind my desk chair.

We had BABY DEER in the yard today!!! They are so freaking cute!!!!!!!
Finn wasn’t quite as thrilled as I was.
Had to laugh at this, which a friend shared in a discussion about the new pope.
And now I think I need to go watch The West Wing again.
So I’m keeping things simple and just plugging a “portable” 5TB drive in, then setting up a couple of shared folders for the player app to scan.
I thought about getting a NAS for the media storage, but even the high-res video content is relatively small files, and should fit on a 5TB drive. None of it needs to be duplicated or backed up, and I can’t tolerate the sound of spinning platter hard drives or cooling fans in my space.
Luckily I kept my favorite movies and shows on disc, so now I just have to get them loaded onto the media server (aka, my super powered, always-on desktop PC with extra storage attached.)
Yesterday was a rough tech day, but I did manage one small victory; I downloaded and tested a new video player app so I can start shifting back to a home media server instead of depending on streaming services.
And once again, begging authors to consider publishing more broadly than just Amazon.
It's Amazon boycott week (again!) Doing my part by:
*buying ebooks from authors who have published via non-Amazon shops (yay, Kobo and Smashwords!)
*grabbing some Amazon exclusive books from Kindle Unlimited and reading them (because it benefits the authors much more than Amazon)
Somebody’s feeling a bit chaotic this Monday morning…..
It’s a double basket hangout kinda day. I’m just drowning in the adorableness today!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
This was just what I needed during today’s intermidably frustrating meeting.
I needed a little pick-me-up to get through Monday, so Finn “helped” me choose a new toenail polish color from my stash today.
Taken with the iPhone 14 Pro and Apexel 100mm clip-on macro
Photos from the garden today, part 1. Yellow and purple Osteopurnums and a variegated Ranunculus.
An absolutely stellar video for our current political times. At once both frightening and uplifting, it’s not short but it is worth watching the entire video.

Happy Caturday from Finn, who has finally decided that the basket I set in the front window for him is a good place to nap, lounge, and spy on the neighbors.
Finn has learned to sit by my feet in the morning and wait (im)patiently while I fix his “breakfast.” Then he gets to lick the spoon before I give him his pill and his breakfast.
I, however, have NOT learned that he’s started doing this, which means he gets tripped on a lot. 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️
Starting the week off right by literally laughing in our Microsoft rep’s face when they tried to blame a vendor for an issue which only Microsoft could actually cause. Just another perk of my job! 👍
Loving the dual combo of Deep Space teal and High Roller purple as I prepare for the upcoming week.
Did I NEED another six bottles of nail polish and a new top and base coat set? No. Did I get them anyway because it was my birthday and also because my budget says I’m allowed to have nice things especially from small independent businesses? Absolutely!
Happy Caturday from Finn and his llama buddy! (Which I am NOT allowed to touch!!!)
I would post here more often, but apparently I’m not concise enough for this character limit. 🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️
How I feel every time I think about getting back on social media these days……😱😱😱😱😱
Guess I picked the right time to peek in from my social media break, as I logged on to find an amazingly inspirational, West Wing-esque speech from Senator Cory Booker which has been going for more than 20 hours now. The detail, the receipts, the PLANNING that went into this is truly a masterpiece
“FEELS LIKE” 30F, what in the ACTUAL FUCK, wind chill??????
Apps:
Calibre (on PC) for metadata management, tracking, syncing, and backup
MapleRead SE (on iPad) for reading (downloads my epubs direct from Calibre over wifi!)
Bonus: my reading app can actually SORT. BY. SERIES. ORDER!!😱😱😱
Had to stop reading the Internet today because YIKES.
Instead I’m admiring the results of my ebook library metadata update. Nice pretty matching covers (no stupid TV tie-ins!) titles all corrected, synopsis blurbs created, & all the series cataloged in order.
Had to sign off work early to rest and try to set my brain so I can get some sleep tonight. Which means cozy electric blanket, dim room, and comfort movie (sooo looking forward to seeing some Russians get their a$$es kicked.)
Finn has joined me and he LOVES watching movies!
