As someone who works in IT support - developers are the absolute worst. lol

Like what do you mean you have 8 versions of Java SDK installed and you don't know if you can delete the one from 2016 that has a list of vulnerabilities longer than a CVS receipt.

Seriously. I’ve heard this song hundreds of times and I get chills when the organ kicks in on the third verse. 👏 Every 👏 Single 👏 Time.

The cover of the album “Lola Versus Powerman and The Moneygoround” by Kinks. One of the best albums ever recorded. GO LISTEN TO IT NOW.

Streaming and vinyl can coexist.

Vinyl: listening to the incredible Kinks record “Lola versus Powerman and the Moneygoround” in its entirety.

Streaming: saying fuck it and listening to the song “Strangers” from said Kinks album on a loop for an hour straight.

there's so much bad in the world but there's also people who lift up and carry an elderly bat around every day so he can pretend he's flying again, and that's the part of the world I think is worth fighting for

Fine I’ll go first.

Left hanky: Into dog costumes
Right hanky: Into fancy dress.

The “Hanky Code” was used by the gay community. (70s-80s?) By wearing a colored and/or patterned hanky in a back pocket folks discreetly indicated their sexual interest/kink (color or pattern of the hanky) and their preferred role (which side pocket.) (Me: gray flannel; right side. 👔 haaay)

This is a square handkerchief featuring the brown, orange, and red pattern of interlocking hexagons famously known as the carpet design from the Overlook Hotel in Stanley Kubrick’s 1980 horror masterpiece, The Shining.

What would be your left/right pocket hanky code meanings for this bandanna?

I'm holding the classic Cinderella record, Long Cold Winter. The cover is a clean, off-white background. At the top, the band's name is written in their signature stylized, purple gradient font with sharp edges. Near the bottom, the album title is printed in a simple, elegant cursive script.

Gotta finish it off with Long Cold Winter. Singers from this era tried REAL HARD to get that raspy blues-soaked vocal style but Tom Keifer from Cinderella really nailed the Stephen Tyler meets Tom Waits aesthetic. I imagine his vocal cords looked like a jellyfish eating string cheese though.

Its like surge pricing, but for the entire country.

I am holding Poison's debut record Look What the Cat Dragged In. The cover shows four close-up portraits of the band members in heavy makeup and teased hair, arranged in a grid. The band name is in green at the top. The album title is printed in black letters around the white border of the square photos.

I am holding the debut album by Cinderella titled Night Songs. The cover features the four band members standing in a dark alleyway with purple and pink mist. They are wearing classic 80s glam outfits with big hair and leather. The band's name is in a stylized purple script at the top, and the album title is printed at the bottom.

Very true. I used to like it - but it’s just too much now.

I love that place so much. I even find the rapey English/French pick-lines playing in the bathroom somehow endearing.

Gonna try Larrys Lounge. Here’s hoping they paid their liquor license and are still open. Never know.

Freddys bar taking reservations like it’s Studio 54. Ugh. So annoyed. First time trying to get a drink after a month of sitting at home and I’m in a mood already.

Why do I even try to go to Freddys in Arlington anymore? Every time it’s the same - missing bartenders, people holding stools for people who aren’t there, empty 2 and 4-top tables that stay “reserved” all night. It’s turned insufferable.

Finally got my staples taken out today, 3 weeks after my back surgery for my sciatica. I’m so excited to take a proper shower tonight. Still get really sore if I sit, stand, or lay down for too long - but I haven’t have any leg pain or numbness since I woke up from the anesthesia!

Didn’t see the article link in your reply quote, but I did some checking and holy fuck - 310k “book ins”

340k people? I’m not saying it’s
Wrong, but what is the source for that? I’m seeing numbers like 30-70k (still an obscene number).

So much of TikTok is now just people stitching each other and saying “Epstein files mentioned wine corks and bleu cheese 12 times so bleu cheese must be a code word for eating baby feet” - and then three days of people confidently saying Corky Romano eats baby feet.

Problematic-masks on the cover aside, this album kinda slaps and is weirdly relevant. (First time listening to it in a long time and how did I never notice those masks before? I always thought they were the “theatre” masks.)

Welp - everything looks great but I didn’t get my staples taken out. He said “I want to keep them in for another week - there’s some pulling and stretching at that location.”

Which is a clinical way of saying “look fatty, we’re gonna leave them in so you dont pop open like a tube of biscuits.” 🤣
