Mississippi lawmaker introduces 'Contraception Begins at Erection Act' The bill, which is unlikely to pass, would make it unlawful for “a person to discharge genetic material without the intent to fertilize an embryo.”

I want to thank the little voice in my head that stopped me from captioning this 'don't shoot the messenger'...

Some natural history for you. The Llama family is more than just the domesticated animal. There are four 'Lamoids' in this group. 1. Vicuna 2. Guanaco 3. Alpaca 4. Llama. Only the first 2 live in the wild (of the Andes). The others are bred for wool, meat and fur. #mammals

Happy Thanksgiving to all my American friends.

I'm thankful for you, for the wonderful creative work you share, and that whatever the future holds, we're in it together.

Four favorites from around the neighborhood this year.

I like New England Calvinists as much as anybody does and more than most.

But American Thanksgiving isn’t fundamentally the commemoration of the 1621 harvest, but of victory over those who committed treason in defense of slavery.

My neighbor is a green belt! Enjoying peace and quiet with my wife this year. It’s nice to not have to rush to get on the road for the holiday.

These "I did that" stickers should be in every grocery store and supermarket across America, everywhere Trump's tariffs drive prices skywards.

Because that is precisely what his voters voted for.

Dawn, the earth is in complete darkness. The ocean is showing, picking up first light from the sky, 90 minutes before sunrise. With the ocean behind, you see black silhouettes of Spruce Trees against the illuminating surface of the water. A QUOTE of Gautama Buddha below:
"IN THE END, only three things matter: how much you loved, how gently you lived, an dhow gracefully you let go of the things not meant for you."

My part of today's repast is safely in the oven so I'll take a moment to post a thanks on behalf of the Mockingbirds in the garden. 🌱 After a couple of frosts and a chance of a freeze in the forecast, their preferred food source here is Callicarpa americana Alba. It's time.

Do what brings you joy! As my husband and I age- we have a smaller vegetable and herb garden and focus on perennials in the rest of the yard. 🌱

While mentioning the rack in the window, this photo shows more, and they are outside. using small Hockey Stick size lumber, I built a frame, like an Easel and between the supports, I cut 8 foot plastic drain gutter into angled shelves that exactly fit a Red Solo Cup (Popular plastic disposable drink tumbler), and the original RACK could hold 99 cups. The design allows to pour water only once, at the top gutter, that fills, and then runs to the next row, angled the opposite way, in a zig zag fashion. At the bottom, a tray collects any water remaining and is reused daily to save time hauling more water and keep the floor dry inside. In various rows, there are Red and Blue cups (different types of trees) and a few Yogurt containers, the oval ones fit also. I've designed far better systems since, but I learned more as I grew. Mostly I grow trees from seed (as all these shown are grown)

TRUE STORY: 🌱
(For the love of dog, doesn't that old guy ever shut up, they said. 😆)
My cats jockey for space in a single patio door glass. (No sunny windows, I move plants AM & PM, outside & indoors. I needed that cat-window. So I designed & built a watering system holding 99 RS Cups of #trees.

A lizard is sitting on a vertical tree trunk. Its body is pointing downwards. The front part of its body is bend backwards in such a way that the head is pointing horizontally to the left of the picture. The lizard is brown with a bright yellow stripe on the neck and the front half of its side. There are some bright spots on its throat. The body appears striped across the body because it exhibits alternating lighter and darker hues of brown.

gardening in 6b: I left beets and carrots in the ground through several freezes and snow; I pulled the biggest today, so I can use them for candied root veg, I'll cook them down with molasses and butter and brown sugar into thick sauce.
I planted them away back in May, just before the heat wave. 🌱
