I'd read this book...

Have you not read 'Everything in parenting is simple; An application of Clauswitz to childhood dietary choices' by Schwartkopf et all?

You know when someone takes a picture of someone and makes their face symmetrical so you end up looking at it trying to work out what's wrong with it? He looks like that despite not actually having a symmetric face.

That's what gets me - why are they investing all this time stopping kids doing a thing that very few kids actually do?

Ahh, that makes sense. In my head I was thinking maybe the answer is some sort of mobile, traversable hard cover and then realised I'd just invented the SPG.

Of course the question then is why we don't just buy a load of towed artillery? Get decent positions dug, deploy the guns quickly and then crack on.

I suppose it begs the question of how you get something in place to dig in.

I think you're probably right given recent extensions in drone range. I suspect it was more like 20km a year or so ago.

Ahh, I was under the opposite impression, that dug in guns were being hit by UAV or detected and taken out by artillery.

My only question is crew survivability and speed. Given the UAS threat does the RCH give the ability to get a gun into and out of action more quickly whilst protecting the crew?

Particularly given the attention it draws to the fact that Starmer is being held to account by his 'side' in a way the conservatives never were.

There's some interesting work to be done on the cost of people seeking satisfying outcomes.

I'm firmly of the opinion that weapon systems don't win wars, supplies of weapon systems do. What capabilities do we need? What's the most cost effective/efficient option? The question really should be whether the RCH offers a capability we need that the others don't.

I like it. I remember seeing a picture of a Mkiv at bovvy and the way the light reflected off the panels was just like this. I suspect it’s very much about the way people see the world though

I want all of these. Not only are they beautiful but I feel like we could all do with the reminder.

'With her bf' might have been a more important part of that question than she realised.

We've replaced Guy Gibson with a War Thunder high scorer.

You can't tell me Palantir was full of nerds who didn't get the reference.

A common mini painting arc; wanted to paint Templars, watched @sonicsledgehammer.bsky.social video and saw a great technique. Got excited, watched other videos, tried something new. It didn’t work so tried a series of experiments. Great result, just realised it’s basically the same as the first vid

I love people who call for national service without having takin advantage of the opportunities to serve that existed their entire life.

‘Have you considered an actual personality’ is a valid question.

In a post gamer gate world it seems to be like conspiracy theories and so many other things in terms of people being radicalised.

Someone told me that Amazon had ruined LOTR, as though suddenly the books on their shelves ceased to exist and they could only watch the new show.

I think this is fandom in general (the ‘I liked them before they were famous’ thing is a music trope for a reason) but it’s weird how bad sci-fi is for it. I can’t help thinking that rather sad men who make it their entire personality are largely to blame.

I’m envious!

I demand more representations of MY vision of masculinity—where you’re strong when you care for others and weak when you try to dominate. The one where you pass on to your children—whether they’re your own or adopted—love, knowledge, and the tools they need to succeed in life.
Less guilt, more love.

This! I would love to see more representations of fatherhood that focused on being kind to your kids rather than basically neglecting them and then periodically wading in to punch people.

That’s gorgeous! Love the shading. I think it’s a personal preference thing - gloss will wipe off quite ckly, matt will take more effort, I prefer satin as a happy medium.

And armour. Protected mobile tubes with a decent ECM bubble.

I agree, but I think the question is whether Europe has capability to achieve air dominance or the artillery capability to avoid the same trap. I think that the question of whether we focus on artillery or drones depends on how confident we are the us will be there.
