Bookselling is low wage, high stress, often unpaid work. Booksellers work in social care and at the whim of corporations. It can be worth it, but when it isn't, stepping away is a brave thing to do. Janet Geddis, I see you and I support your decision.

Sign outside the Castro theater that says 4/18 CMAT Sold Out
The stage set for the CMAT a show. A big circular medallion in the background says Euro Country and shows CMAT’s head in a retro cartoon style.
Inside the newly refurbished Castro theater. List of gold, velvet and a giant chandelier
American venues continue to be over the top. Great view from the nosebleed seats.
6 fairy tale chapbooks called Turkeys and Tyrants
I am both immensely proud of myself and ashamed that I didn’t ask one of dozens of professionals I know to edit it. It’s a chapbook, editing is too good for it.
Now send JD Vance to run the publicity team for the new Harry Potter series.
After many years of hanging around with poets and artists and writers, I have just written and produced my first chapbook. Tomorrow it will be reviewed by an expert at which point I will probably regret this choice but right now, I've got that "I made that" feeling.
What if the United States had a Congress?
Spent the day at a conference for booksellers. Did I miss anything?
LMK any time you need some rage research. I have a lot of rage.
This is for booksellers, so if the book isn't available to the trade market it won't be on this list. It does include books that are Out of Stock Indefinitely (which means mostly out of print). Here's a PDF:

and a spreadsheet:

Will share around after I've made dinner.
My version is for booksellers, so if the book isn't available for us to buy it won't be on this list. It does include books that are Out of Stock Indefinitely (which means mostly out of print). Here's a PDF

I was planning to share it with Bay Area Kids Booksellers and my tiny banned book club. But I can share it on ABA and CALIBA Discords too.
I've just deduped too and I'm half way through feeding these into Edelweiss now. Of course there was an existing list, but I was rage researching!!! Next time I'll just come to you.
It was in the board meeting notes. Turning that into a spreadsheet and Edelweiss list now.
Working on an Edelweiss and spreadsheet list of these books, so booksellers can build displays. Will share here shortly.
Thanks!
This is a verified GoFundMe for librarian Luanne James from the Rutherford County Library Alliance.

Does anyone have a list of these books? I can only find one source that even names any of the titles Dr James fought for. Needless to say these are all kids books. www.tennessean.com/story/news/2...
Everyone pony the fuck fpr the librarian who just got sacked for refusing to remove LGBTQ books from the kids' section of the library.
I just got back from a big No Kings protest. There were a lot of normies wearing trans rights buttons and calling to abolish ICE. I'm glad that's normal now.
I made my first zine today. Way better use of my time than hating people.
Today in bookselling “my friend is having a baby and he’s a pretty full on Marxist, do you have any books I could give the baby?”. Yes, comrade, yes I do.
Europeans when asked to help unblock the Strait of Hormuz
Plenty of point in making everything good. Sure, people like trashy uncomplicated entertainment, but some people only like the good stuff and some people like both (I ❤️Traitors and McSweeney’s Quarterly Concern). Please keep being brilliant.
If you're living somewhere outside the USA, one thing you can do is pressure your leaders to boycott World Cup and Olympic events here.
Thank you
I have not found a way to turn it off exactly, just make it slightly easier to read, they call it "tinted". The important thing is solving things that are not problems while problems remain unsolved is a whole tech industry ethos.
And harder to see. Why would transparency be an upgrade?
Same.
