I’m sorry that was your experience with a writing group. It can take a few tries to find the right people and format. I’ve tried a few over the years. The people were lovely, but the formats didn’t fit my writing needs. My current one fits my needs for accountability and support. Keep trying!

When you over-explain in your novel, you risk bogging down scenes, slowing the pacing of the whole story, and even losing readers altogether. But sometimes you need to explain things! Here's how to find a balance when you are writing your manuscript.
