Agree with this but not on Czechia's staging. I thought Aiko last year was amazing & clever use of the stage. This year I liked Adonxs' song but the dance break felt shoehorned in ๐ I'll be sad to lose them and hope they come back next yr!

I was so happy for Iceland! They totally endeared themselves to me in the end! ๐
Thrilled for Portugal too and I was worried for Ukraine. Glad they all made it!

Happy birthday!! ๐ฅณ
May all your favourites qualify tonight ๐คฉ
Two peacock butterflies on a buddleia blossom
Close up of a peacock butterfly on a purple-orange buddleia blossom
Red Admiral butterfly on a buddleia blossom
Buddleia bush with a variety of peacock, red admiral and small tortoiseshell butterflies on the blossoms
We have a small purpley-orange one (bicolour?) we got last yr and it was covered in butterflies!
Went to see War of the Worlds live and now I'm so buzzing with all the songs in my head I can't sleep ๐๐ซ
I was rooting for them & actually thought they might win! They seem like they'd be a great live band, I'd love to catch them at a festival!
Not only in the running, but came 5th! I don't know what they'd have done if it won!
Congrats!!
It has grown on me! Plus they've gone from annoying, over-excited puppies to slightly endearing for me, so I hope they do well!
I love that it's in Icelandic and they seem like 2 fun lads. I'm sure they'll be a great addition to this year's class!
Mine are Albania, Finland and Italy. Any of those would feel like worthy winners for me (although would love a first time winner this year!)
Iceland are giving annoying hyperactive puppy energy for me, sorry, but it might grow on me ๐
I wasn't a fan of Tattoo either and genuinely didn't get the hype so I'm probably not the best person to predict how this will go!
He seems like such a wholesome, precious person. I do think he could heal things and is exactly the sort of energy we need right now. I can't stop thinking about Volevo Essere Un Duro. I think it might be my new winner!
It's very Heroes 2.0 (how revolutionary ๐)
I get that people like that (and I love Heroes) but the lyrics are atrocious and it all feels very calculated & soulless. I will be fuming if this wins over more genuine songs.
Joan exudes coolness. Feels like she should be playing at The Roadhouse in Twin Peaks. Both Simone and Brunori's songs make me cry. I also like Rose Villain's song, though preferred last yr's. Olly, Fedez and Achille are overrated to me, but I suspect one of them will win ๐
Sanremo thoughts - love Shablo - so cool to have hiphop at Sanremo, and I especially love the trumpet part in the last chorus. Would really love to see Cuoricini at Eurovision. It's so catchy & love their chemistry! Loving quirky Lucio Corsi too.
Going through it with my mum right now and it's one of those songs I can't listen to without sobbing. That last "buonanotte" ๐ญ
Same for me. On first listen it was kind of jarring to me but loved their Vidbir performance. It has a melancholy but comforting & hopeful vibe. That opening vocal is stunning! I think it will do much better than people think!
and ๐ซ๐ฎ - I was unsure what to make of this at first (like The Code last yr), but it definitely is a song with "WINNER" potential. Not entirely sure about the live performance. It felt a bit underwhelming to me, and her vocals weren't strong enough, but Erika is so magnetic to watch!
๐ฒ๐น going for the meme but gimmick aside, it's a fantastic song and vocal performance. At first I thought it needed a sassy performance but the Sound of Music nod is perfect & so campy! I'm sure it will get votes from ๐ฌ๐ง ๐ฎ๐ช and ๐ฆ๐บ (also dying at ESC Youtube labelling it "Kant ('singing')" ๐ญ
๐ฑ๐ป Another one I found jarring at first and not one of my favs but wow, the staging was so ethereal and gorgeous! Another grower for me and love that they're sending something in Latvian!
Thoughts on the new songs we got:
๐บ๐ฆ I loved Place I Call Home last yr but something about this is jarring to me and it wasn't one of my favs in the selection. Loved the staging though and it's growing on me, it has such a nostalgic, comforting & hopeful sound.
Those saying it's an NQ - be real!
I was confused why she was dressed as Maria Von Trapp at the start but of course she is!! ๐
Also NIYL was so robbed by the juries (though I don't think his styling and staging did him any favours). This was my winner.
I also loved Samantha's performance and not just cos of the Irish dancers (who were never that hot when I was dancing ๐) #Eurosong
Laika Party's not for me but I can see why other people like it, and it will definitely qualify. I'm just a bit disappointed though and worried it sends the wrong message. #Eurosong actually had great options this year but how many independent Irish artists will want to take part next year?
Mine is probably
1. ๐ฆ๐ฑ
2. ๐ช๐ธ
3. ๐ฌ๐ท
4. ๐ธ๐ฎ
5. ๐ง๐ช
6. ๐ฑ๐บ
7. ๐ฒ๐ช
though tbh the only one I really care about is Zjerm
I saw Welsh trad rock band NoGood Boyo last night. Eurofans who like their folk rock entries (think XGiove, Zdob ลi Zdub, Go_A, Alvan & Ahez, Ogenj..) might like them

Also musically this is reminiscent of The Cure's Just Like Heaven to me
The Manics are back with the perfect melancholic song for a Sat night/Sun morning
I was never ready to feel your pain
To understand the picture on my wall
But then you showed me the colour of your soul
A communication of your love
In brushstrokes of reunion

It's not quite clicking for me yet. There's something missing for me but I'm not sure what. It's a bit repetitive or the drop needs to go harder or something. There's some meat missing! Agree that it was their best choice. I'm sure it will grow on me!
