No this is 100% correct. It'd be better if he went back to "make Brexit work" etc. from a pure rejoin vibes pov.

the US parties, but would indicate "you will definitely lose an impeachment vote if we force it" and because it's secret you can't be bullied.
Although taking the example of Johnson in the UK the full confidence vote does drive partisanship. What tends to weaken British PMs to the point they go (even if they win) is the secret ballot of their party's legislators. Wouldn't be a formal constitutional change to introduce that party process in
Yes quite. If you are going to manage by delegation, 1) appoint well, that list is great when you write it out and 2) you must must must back your team when they make decisions. Otherwise the takeaway is "don't make a decision"
You could make a joke of brushing aside a joke that's a trap so obvious it has a picture of admiral Acbar painted on it. You don't have to be humourless about it, but incredibly poor judgement to say that.
Certain you aren't the first to make the comparison
In which case I meant it all along
Also true. There's the "oh shit I am in charge now" cabinet, then the "Lisa why are you still here" cabinet
Unlike now.
To be fair to Washington they weren't preventable at the time.
It'll be a scramble to form a cabinet plus again if you resign well people expect you to be rewarded for it.
Sorry lost track of my own posts. 1) is where she clings on. It's the fact that she's nailed on setting up for parliamentary humiliations.
Well, a bit. I respect a good resignation. It's so unedifying clinging on. Also see my logic below on scenario 2) down thread. It's worse for her, and she might get forced out anyway and then she really is screwed.
(In Senedd, they will pick up some)
The more recent polling has them going backwards. They don't have any seats at all right now.
Oh and if you hang on you might get forced out anyway you have enough enemies.
I think from her POV resignation ASAP is the best possible play. Two alternatives. 1) hang on. You ride this out. Now you are hitched to a dying administration, your signature legislation gets smashed up by a back bench rebellion. You never get near a ministerial role in Rayner/Millie and govt. 2)..
*Milli and should Obvs be Milliband
Resign now. Look statesmanlike, the liberals who *hate* your policies right now respect it, mellow to thinking your a bit mad about immigration but basically decent. You had a big job, reasonable to expect when Starmer is forced out you are back in. Defense or justice or something suits your style.

doing anything ever and you fall back on the public sector default of going round in circles never deciding on anything. That and being great at picking the right people and.... erm....
Agree here. I think he ultimately is done or is a complete lame duck from now on because if your style is to delegate (big fan personally of this, PM's just can't see everything) an essential component of that is you *must* back the decisions those you delegate to make. Otherwise nobody will risk...
Both clumsy but to be fair Cleverly's was meant to be self deprecating whereas Mahmood's was directed at someone else. Also she is much more unpopular and plenty of people will be happy to see a change at the home office, so I think I would say 60/40 she is toast
Yeah, you coulda laughed off the question. It had an admiral acbar sticker on it.
Basically I could have written every word of your three posts above myself.
With real time metrics and commentary saying "This isn't working lads" along with their own party furious about it and it's all been completely ignored.
He's gone now but for the Tories the damage is done.
I mean the plot of "how did RT Davies, a gibbering loon, get the leadership of a party in Wales" is he was the only one too unpleasant to invite to a COVID party.
Hah yeah also true.
Because his whole brand was probity and process, and turning around an unhealthy culture. Contrasted against Johnson. These are all the things he is getting smashed on now.
