This poem appeared in the Academy of American Poets, 2023. Shared here with deep gratitude.
Love this
Black text on white background. It reads: My Cherry Pie The coffee’s black, bitter as space between galaxies in the narrow circumference of a chipped ceramic mug On the steam, a dead girl rises – She’s a virgin She’s perfection She’s on fire Hungry in the Red Room, a backwards dancer wreathed by endless iterations of self The agent stirs in his sleep heartsick, restless His pillow is a log Diane Diane, can you hear me? An owl erupts from his seizing throat It is exactly what it seems cry

In honor of the peerless David Lynch, here is a bit of weird poetry to commemorate his work:
Today, I’ll say like anything else.
Not by turning it out. You can’t practice with anything if you ignore and evade reality.
It must come back to kindness and compassion. Include more.
I ordered pizza and, after a May Day meeting, I’m going to clean my fountain pens.
Slow care, small wins.
I posted an article about billionaires and geopolitics yesterday and got a reader question: how do you practice with this information?
It’s an ongoing question. Yesterday I said the web shows interconnectedness. It also shows people how systemic issues are. Ultimately, the practice is local sangha.
“It’s like standing at the edge of the ocean and watching the dawn arise.”
This week, I wrote about time banking: a giving and receiving agreement you make with friends.
I spoke with Dr. Chris Gray about her experience. She said once you move people from earn and spend logic, the world opens up.
I LOVED this movie!
Five shows to get to know me:

As you probably know Iʻve spent years carrying Frank OʻHaraʻs Lunch Poems around with me, preferably in a pocket. The other day, I saw a copy on a table in one of my favorite New York spaces, Torn Page, and hereʻs what happened.

A dog with one blue eye and one brown eye has a sign around his neck saying "basic human rights, or I bites." His tongue is sticking out.
Look at this beautiful guardian of human rights. ✊🏼🐶 #nokings

When Todd Rademacher hosted a Zoom call for educators on how to protect kids from ICE, he intentionally didn't record the webinar to protect the attendees. It was found on WebinarTV anyway.

JOURNALISTS IN LOS ANGELES: Before you cover No Kings 3 protests, print out these 4 pages (just 2 if double sided).
If you have trouble with LAPD, this is literally a direct order signed by their chief instructing all personnel on proper treatment of press:

A sign on a metal box has different colored silhouettes of heavily, armed soldiers, and below them different in inflatable animal costumes, and it reads: CHOOSE YOUR CREW!
Seen in the streets! One of our free signs. Free for anyone to print from PaperAmmunition.com
Ps you CAN be the person to print one of these out & tape it up somewhere. It’s easy. Keep protesting long after No Kings day is over. Resist every day! #nokings
Post a non-religious picture you think of as holy.
“There is no widely recognized funeral for a degraded wetland. There is no standard form of leave for an ecosystem that tips past a threshold. […]
So the grief becomes private. It leaks out as irritability, sleeplessness, a kind of emotional flatness, or a sense of futility that is hard to name.”
I'm taking a class called "Falling in Love With the World Again" about climate emotions. Last week's session was on grief.
Despite intellectual identification, I struggled to tap into these things in the exercise. So I doubled down.
This essay is about presence and not needing to know the answer.
This looks amazing!

In terms of the flora, I am not sure. The dirt was moved from a landslide to this location to grow new things. …but in terms of the other flower people, i think they are an invasive species to this particular region 😁

Just a bit from my work day: military personnel publicly refusing to enforce unjust & illegal orders, 1774 edition.

The shot looks up at a woman in red standing on a hill. There are purple flowers on the hill, similar to the purple headdress she wears. Several people, many also in red, look up at her.
This was taken today! Couldn't pass on similarity. She's wearing a purple flower headdress
Excited to check this out!
This site needs a break. Post 3 good things, none of which are the cessation of a negative.
1. How my cat knows exactly when to chime in in his favorite duet. I kid you not, he’s got two solos.
