The Wailing Review: Dying to see a more refined rendition of this horror film | Sydney Film Festival Review | SWITCH. 'The Wailing' stumbles far more than it succeeds. It's a horror film that is outright boring for considerable slabs of time. There doesn't need to be gore, there doesn't need to be terror - but there does need to be something to keep the audience engaged for the duration.

Catch 'The Wailing' ('El llanto') today at the @sydfilmfest.bsky.social. It doesn't make use of cheap jump scares; it succeeds with suspense in the absence of light. We never know if something may be present in the dark corners or hallways. Our #moviereviewhttps://swtc.au/thewailing #horror

Sydney Film Festival – Chain Reactions (dir. Alexandre O. Philippe) We don’t necessarily need another documentary about The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. Between features and home entertainment productions, general horror docs plus cast and crew biographies, Tobe Hooper’s...

Alexandre O. Philippe’s great CHAIN REACTIONS has one more @sydfilmfest.bsky.social session this Friday (the 13th!). I wrote about how much I enjoyed its unconventional take on a movie that feels as if it has been, let’s be honest, talked about to death.

A ★★★★★ review of The Mastermind (2025) Sydney Film Festival #3 What could be seen as Reichardt's most fun film could be seen as her most devastating. www.impulsegamer.com/the-mastermind-film-review/

My favourite film showing at @sydfilmfest.bsky.social so far.

Kelly Reichardt has made her most genre-centric film and maybe her most devastating film.
