So was Chorus a good idea by Cunliffe and good implementation by Joyce?
The Cheapskates store on Khyber Pass is no longer there. It has been there as long as I can remember. Trainers on High Street also recently closed. Are we in a skate recession?
In olden times, you'd walk into a shop and look at, say, a cake, decide not to buy it, and walk out of the shop safe in the knowledge that nobody would be following you around with the cake for the next 6 weeks just in case you change your mind.
Q: Wout who?
A: The squirrel on The Masked Singer, Belgium.

Wout van Aert’s Paris-Roubaix win is fascinating from the point of view that if you’re into road cycling you’re talking about the best race ever and if you’re not you’re “Wout who?”
Maybe in football, basketball, golf, etc. the conversation leaks outside the sport?

Was getting confused why there was a 50th anniversary release of an album from 1988, but then realised the 50th anniversary was for Rough Trade and not for MBV’s “Isn’t Anything”.
This kinda suggests that the people surveyed in NZ aren't particular good at business, no?
At first I thought "who the hell is going to buy Bronny's?", then I realised they're the perfect nepo baby sneaker!

I guess this was “know” anecdotally, but is now backed up by research?
So in the new world how do we equip early career folks with the context and knowledge to do this analysis well?
Interesting the the IBM article suggests entry level roles are shifting from tasks to analysis.
The typical pathway has been perform tasks at entry level (have some wins, make some mistakes), leverage that experience to make analysis.
The monuments of Monument Valley
Maybe the peak for this run through the cycle is one of the Monument Valley monuments?
Bicycle chain cleaner tool
Turns out that these have an effective life around 1-3 years so using an 18-19 year old version that has been used quite a bit doesn't do a great job. Kept cleaning my chain and wondering why it never seemed to be clean. Getting a new cleaning machine (for under $40), problem solved!
A CSS-only drawing of Chris Coyier (yes, it's not a joke)
Chris created CSS Tricks, and I am using CSS Tricks to draw @chriscoyier.net. The loop is looped! 😆
Demo: codepen.io/t_afif/full/... via @codepen.io
Each drawing is a single div and a single shape() value! Yes, only one shape for a complex drawing 👀
Another (crazy) demo using modern CSS.
Would you feel differently about the Star Wars movies if Yoda's name was Jeff?
Headline on Hollywood Reporter that reads ”Paddington 4, Escape From New York' Reboot in the Works”
I misread the headline as one movie and got very excited for a moment…
I’ve posted it before, but it feels evergreen
The two hardest problems in Computer Science are
1. Human communication
2. Getting people in tech to believe that human communication is important
RNZ Headline: New mum leaves baby in NICU to help partner with robbery
TBF you generally are expected to leave your baby in NICU unless they have been discharged.
Unexpectedly this episode contains the most coherent discussion of the impact of AI on software engineering that I’ve heard - bookoverflow.io/episodes/ep_...
TL:DL - we seem to have forgotten that code is inventory and inventory is a liability.
I always remember Shazam as being on in the afternoon, but maybe I am remembering incorrectly?
Interesting you’re using Opus.
I asked Sonnet if I should use Opus instead and Sonnet was “no no no” 🤣
Car horns should come with multiple settings, e.g.
1. You legend! When seeing a cyclist on a hill climb.
2. Hi, just in case you didn’t see me I’m here.
3. The light has gone green.
4. WTF ARE YOU DOING!?
Litmus test for AGI:
it's not agi until the provider accepts liability for its actions
Haven’t been following the axios thing super closely, but I hope I’m not the first person to point out that fetch works natively in modern browsers and LTS versions of node. You might not need axios.
Call screening in iOS is great, but if you keep making cold calls me I will use an older solution - block.
I can't be the only person who wants a Browserstack equivalent for cycling computers.
You'll be surprised to learn that Brigitte Morton thinks the government's response has been excellent.
"As long as phases one and two of the national fuel plan are effective, people won't have to worry about phases three and four".
Aren't phases 1 & 2 basically do nothing and see what happens?
