right?? it was so unexpected and goofy and so unapologetically targeted at So Many Of Us Are Old Now that i had to
lifting cast iron pans every other day is the only reason i have rank 2 arm strength instead of rank 0 so im looking forward to weaponizing it
it's just a standard lodge cast iron so good to season it over the factory seasoning imo but works out great! it's a little big at 10" to use as an iron but the design is high enough that i think it still could in fact work as a tortilla iron, i was thinking that too so going to try it later LOL
idk why this is as funny as it is to me but i really had to
i bought the warcraft pan

A painterly drawing of a Springpaw Lynx from World of Warcraft, overgrown with fungus and light. A crude tooltip is drawn as though hovering over it's corpse, detailing the quests it is associated with, and that it can be broken down into parts and resources. Despite this, the creature is glowing with gold highlights and sparkles, indicating it is highly valuable even in death.
"Elegy for a Springpaw Lynx"
i think a lot about this expansion, its pacing, and its impact through environmental storytelling. how much one thing could be so crucial but is overlooked in favor of 'progress' or means to an end, a rush. i have so many words but i decided to draw them out instead
if you don't have it already, while you're there doing the arcantina quest, the annoyingly rare sandfishing world quest in vol'dun is up today for NA servers .. it's for the 'adept sandfisher' achievement that's part of the bfa meta achievement for the jani mount transformation reward
ohhh how i still adore her!!! ๐ญ๐

Yska for @yaranyarai.bsky.social โจ Last Tournament of Ages portrait for 2025, thanks for your trust and patience, I enjoyed drawing not one but TWO vulpera this year!
very! long but very thorough and actually -constructive- thread about midnight that almost exactly mirrors my own thoughts, with similar weights and ratings, minus a few smaller issues. it's a really tough expansion for me to find interest or enjoyment in, but hoping for story & systems yet to come
update: i am Actually stuck
sitting here trying to fix a camera issue and tabbed back in to discover @vampirevice.bsky.social building a burial chamber around me

it's really true and a really good point -- dracthyr for instance felt like such a core feature of dragonflight it made sense to see them everywhere. ooc it felt like they belonged; ic it created tension between them and the dragons - yet haranir feel very poorly defined in this story, and it's sad
anyway i could write a book about why it falls flat for me & why i feel like even the really inspired moments (the skybox and oppressive music changes are incredible - and immediately gone!) are so very wasted that it's viscerally disappointing, but you get me. hopefully the story yet to come helps.
also don't love the memeing on "wholesome fluff" quests; it's not the problem - those are just symbols of sweeping problems like sidequests without depth (rarely serve the story, or create insights, etc) and -bad- tonal whiplash instead of serving comic relief (are we under siege here or not?)
on the other hand, i hate reading takes like the bandwagon around "unity" being rolleyes hand-holding no conflict storytelling. nnnno, it tracks. just feels unearned & unacknowledged as a process. the game repeatedly fails at convincing You of the urgency these characters would feel. that's the core
both because of reasons others have mentioned (poor/fast pacing, inconsistent tone) and also things that just really bother me personally (tedious anti-afk popups in place of actual difficulty scaling in prey, environments so massive they become abstract & empty instead of immersive and full)
i came into midnight knowing it wasn't likely to be For Me - i'm not a big elves fan, no real hooks for any of my characters, etc - so it wasn't any surprise when it was not, in fact, For Me. but i'm really struggling to find Anything that doesn't kind of fall short, and that's sort of a bummer, too
idk how you both ended up with the most Cartoon level cats i could possibly comprehend
