upstream is far enough in development that it's time for me to be looking to expand the QA team

if interested:

if you've never used git or docker before, that's fine, but you will need to use those things to QA upstream. you don't need to be an expert, just be able to comfortably follow step-by-step instructions in a command line terminal

be aware that this is a very, very boring task. if you're thinking "i want to play v9 early!" and not "i want to generate a dozen unfinishable seeds and do repetitive tasks to find boss animations that are broken by a couple of pixels!" then it will not be fun for you, please do not feel obligated to sign up for things that are not fun

if you don't have the time to commit to something like this, that's fine, no need to respond (it's an open call to the public, not a personal request to anyone in particular)

if in spite of all of the above you think you'd like to do this, let me know and ty in advance!

if you do end up QAing upstream you will be added to the in-game credits

Remove flashes: Flashing lights removed to be photosensitivity-friendly.

Hold B to auto-advance text: There isn't much text in the randomizer, but this is an alternative to needing a turbo controller.

Randomize battle music: Almost any song from the game can become battle music. You can exclude any you don't want. The game only supports 8 different boss battle tunes, so 8 will be selected at random from your list.

Japanese ABXY buttons: In battle, the button icons, and lockable buttons in the Bowyer fight, are changed to use the Super Famicom colour scheme from the Japanese release.

Palette selectors: This is the -palette flag from 8.x.x. You can choose each character's palette individually, including leaving them default, or you can choose to have the randomizer choose one for you.

Play as starter ally everywhere: Yes, this is exactly what it sounds like! The first character you start off with in the randomizer will also be the character you play as in the overworld. Your collision data still matches Mario's.

Change character names to match palettes: This has been split out into its own setting from the -palette flag in 8.x.x.

Use Remake names: Where possible, all items, characters, and attacks will be renamed according to the Switch remake. World area names are not changed.

Use lore-compliant names: This toggles renaming Magikoopa to Kamek and Birdo to Birdetta.

Rename Peach: Exactly what it says.

Coming soon: Player experience settings! You'll see some familiar and some new settings here. Everything listed below is NOT baked into the seed hash, so you can race your friends without needing the same cosmetic preferences. Click the alt text for more info!

The title screen of SMRPG Randomizer, it looks like SMRPG's original screen but says "Randomizer" on it. It is inside an emulator window, meaning the new randomizer has successfully generated a seed.
