By applying a tracking method to both climate models and satellite data, @davyclimate.bsky.social found that sea ice age is a more sensitive indicator of change than ice thickness or volume.

The northern Barents Sea could be 7 degrees warmer in 2050. Two scenarios, one a 4 degree increase and the other a 2.5 increase showed similar results.

"One of the main findings is that you can't see a difference between these scenarios in 2050," says researcher Marius Årthun, with UiB and BCCR.🧪🌊
