This infuriating attitude shows up on the bookshelves in learning environments, too. We expect girls to empathize with boys, but we kneecap every opportunity to let boys empathize with girls. And look where we are.

I'm not someone who gets worked up about internet tomfoolery on April Fools Day, but I will say: there's a difference between a prank and just lying. Like, you should probably have a joke in there somewhere?

I used to proofread catalogs for academic books, & our system exported the prices as "£10 US $20" which had to be manually edited. Designer had the brilliant idea to replace-all "US" with nothing. In an international relations catalog. RIP United States. (Also not great for words like "numerous.")

Reading DC's May 2026 solicits and I see we're making a return to the days of "Do women have bones? We just don't know" style of anatomy on some of these variant covers. Honestly this is just embarrassing.

"For the Man Who Has Everything" completely fails to deliver on its own premise and is grossly sexist besides. (The Black Mercy is an A+ concept that should be used way more, though.)
