Amazing that in the national divorce the libs are getting the NFL, butter and cooking oil, being attracted to adult women, standup comedy, Bud Light, and now also Catholicism

We are so far beyond even Teapot Dome levels of "government captured by private industry" in this country, and Democrats genuinely seem to believe their unpopularity is driven by being too nice to trans people, instead of being driven by their screamingly obvious hypocrisy about this.

yeah i think that's probably what happened. i think it succeeds as a piece of entertainment. the stop motion and the everything everywhere all at once editing (daniel kwan was a producer interestingly) are fun. as a piece of journalism though it's sorely lacking

it has a valuable conversation if that premise is true, but it's a *pretty fucking key premise* to just take for granted. Especially when, you know, a massive body of evidence points to it being patently untrue

I do find this insistence on contingency and hedging survivors’ accounts really tedious. Andrew Cuomo was found to have sexually harassed Lindsay Boylan—and many others—by the New York Attorney General.

the item was just a 'receive and file', meaning they're just acknowledging that the process will begin soon. it will be another year before the board can start proposing amendments for the decennial review, but it's good to get the pressure on early

the report on the decennial transfer didn't say anything about specific projects it could be used for, it was just mentioned in an offhand response to one of the board members' questions. I'll need to watch the replay to parse exactly what he said

Amid quarrel with pope, Trump strips Miami charity of funding to house migrant kids
The move comes amid rising tensions between the administration and American Catholics.
INBOX: Amid rising tendons between Trump and Pope Leo, the administration has abruptly canceled an $11 million contract with Catholic Charities to shelter and care for migrant children who enter the U.S. alone, ending a relationship dating back to the first arrivals of Cuban exiles in South Florida.

metro staff seemed to indicate that a decennial transfer is indeed being primarily considered to cover the SEGWay shortfall, which (by my assessment) will hopefully eliminate the need to seek federal funding for it

they claim that the overall %s for transit vs highway are not alterable, which is a little confusing since the entire first amendment option is around transferring between transit and highway… is the suggestion that any transfer in one direction must be balanced out by a transfer in the opposite?

Planning and Programming Committee - Metro Board
Back to Meetings & Agendas
someone just flagged that the planning committee meeting in 30m has a decennial review item on the agenda, item #7. Worth calling in a comment in support of moving highway funds to transit and potentially also in support of adding vermont rail and an arts district station to projects list

Another interesting fact, if Bass loses this will be the biggest turnover on the metro board since its inception. Mayor+3 appointees, Solis (termed out), Najarian (not running for re-election), and Dutra (lost election). over half the seats!

other stats for the stats-heads: longest serving board members were Fasana at 26 years, Antonovich at 24 years, Molina at 22 years, and Najarian at 20 (and counting). Second-longest-serving of the current board is JDW at 12 years.

(at least I think, as the mayor appointees go. Ed Reyes took over a seat for a blink in 2004 it looks like, but I couldn't find who he replaced so put him in mayor appointee 3)

For the other seats, BOS3 has seen 4 people, Mayor has seen 6, Mayor appointee 1 has seen 6, MA2 has seen 9, and MA3 has seen 11.
