"zero means zero" budget = 183% ⬆️ in parking fees at Spanish Banks.
This will disproportionately impact low-income individuals, seniors, people on fixed incomes such as those on disability, and families who cannot afford summer camps for their children. #vanpoli

CNN exposes a global “online rape academy” that teaches men how to drug and rape women without detection. Over 62 million men attended in February alone.
“The report says the costs associated with femicide totalled $27.6 million annually, while workplace sexual harassment “contributes an additional $86 million each year through reduced productivity and employment churn.”

Today Vancouver council is set to approve a staff recommendation to back away from their push to become a Bitcoin friendly city.
Here's my story about it, along with an extended montage about what Ken Sim has said about Bitcoin on various podcasts in the last two years.

“Sim and Zhou have proven their ethical bar is too low — they do not deserve our support.”

“It looks nice and all put together. You come around the back, and then you actually see the stories of the women...and what goes on behind closed doors..."

Yes, lots of men, men and more men. I do appreciate insight from @mdobrinskaya.bsky.social in this story @jmcelroy.bsky.social. More of that please! #VanPoli
"As journalists queued up behind the microphone, the first question was about why Sim did not report the image to the police if he believed he had seen evidence of a municipal politician breaking the law. The mayor did not answer." #VanPoli

No one carries around physical photos anymore. When was the last time someone pulled one one to show you?
⬇️ Months ago, I stated intimate partner vi-lence would be an election issue this October. #VanPoli

excited for more hyperlocal celebrities to wade into the municipal election
let’s get the women who asks people how much they make interviewing sim
the foodie influencers can start feuding over whether pete fry is sufficiently pro housing supply
rollergirl can endorse…well, rollergirl
And still, escaping intimate partner vi-lence profoundly impacted my health and livelihood.
What is the outcome for those without that support? #VanPoli @endingviolence.bsky.social
💡 Just think for a moment about the depth of harm in the DTES.
I had family. Friends. A job. An employer who did everything they could to support me. Counsellors. Victim support agencies. Lawyers.
Unlike residential tenancies, which are heavily regulated with rent increase caps, there are no legal maximums for commercial rent increases.
"Zoning, permitting, and building code requirements remain complex and slow-moving, and the pace has not kept up with what today’s retailers need" according to Adrian Beruschi, senior vice-president of retail properties for CBRE Limited. #VanPoli

Worth noting that on a different website, multiple ABC Vancouver officials follow accounts that post constantly about how Sean Orr is a terrible human being and make all sorts of unproven claims, including one account that creates AI videos of Orr doing all sorts of illegal or evil acts

Vancouver Councillor Lennie Zhou needs to resign. He knowingly distributed highly prejudicial misinformation about other City Councillors that he either knew to be untrue or was willfully blind to its truth. #VanPoli www.ctvnews.ca/vancouver/ar...
The #VanPoli non-apology
After Cllr Lenny Zhou is caught publishing defamatory libel, manufacturing falsehoods accusing us of being drug users/dealers and fomenting ugly divisive rhetoric
--this statement is not an apology, it's not even an excuse.
Zhou, communicating solely to media, while mayor so far fails to disavow.
Ken Sim and Lenny Zhou were considering speaking about Zhou’s video where he said several opposition councillors were drug users who had also distributed.
Then they declined.
We saw Sim going into another meeting, and this was his response.
They say the councillor is Lenny Zhou, and he made the comments at some sort of filmed event where he made his remarks directly to camera.
Of note: we still have not seen the video, or a translation of what he said.
(which frankly, is a somewhat odd way to hold a press conference)
