I like that all the shows got nods, I took these as the repair drones from Discovery. But hopefully they know to keep them a side gag, developing them much would be a little like Morn getting a speaking line.

I got a pleasant surprise yesterday, I completely forgot I ordered these Christmas lights last year after @techconnectify.bsky.social mentioned them. Looking forward to the nice warm glow on my porch.
I realize the point people are trying to make, but living in a blue city in a red state we get a lot of what we don’t want forced on us. The thousands of people at pride last week and Porchrokr the week before are how I see Akron. (pics not mine)

I follow a feed of anything mentioning Cleveland. I moved to Akron from Arizona, and driving 20 minutes to do anything seemed normal there, going more than a couple miles from my house seems like a trip here.
I’ve noticed that food normies (i.e. not food & restaurant geeks) have the impression that people like me are very difficult to please, but my experience is the opposite. Thing is, food geeks love *everything*. Pick a random restaurant, and I’m much more likely to find something I like on the menu.

That’s how it worked on early Twitter. And it feels more like a community conversation to me that way. Seeing the cool people those who you follow interact with just helps to find more people to follow.
They just went to unstaffed QR code parking at the public market in Cleveland, but the new AI ordering in drive throughs is worse. I said one word wrong on an item that a person would’ve just picked up on, and when the robot told me they don’t have that I just said good bye and left.
Thanksgiving dressing cooking in a crock pot
Happy Thanksgiving! I’m not hosting this year, I was just asked to bring the dressing. I love the Serious Eats slow cooker recipe. The edges get a little crisp, and it doesn’t take up space in the oven.
Is the urban rural divide here more extreme like everything else has been lately? I’ve only been in Akron for a couple of years.
My job had sodagate when we put in an open access fountain. People abused it so bad they had to limit it to one fill with a meal and lock it when the cafeteria wasn’t staffed. One guy would show up with a gallon jug to take home with him. It was basically subsidized diabetes.
I’m very close to being that nerd. There’s enough friction and inconvenience that both Linux and mastodon are good ideas I haven’t bothered with in a while.
