South Africans are calling the 49 "refugees" the Voetsekkers, which is a combination to the word Voortrekker (Afrikaaner version of the pioneers) and Voetsek (Afrikaans for "piss-off!").

The country probably hasn't been this united since it won the Rugby World Cup in 2023.

Everyone should respect South Africa for being one of the most successful multicultural democracies in world history. They peacefully transitioned from a colonial apartheid state to a successful relatively harmonious multicultural/multiracial civic democracy. Djt is a national embarrassment

Labelling an entire population as either subjugators or subjugated oversimplifies human histories and relationships.
You flatten individual experiences and ignore the nuance in power dynamics.

This study looked only at the whitest of our white people. It did not look for any European DNA markers in other group (where you'd see evidence of integration)

tl;dr - we have 11 official languages and yes we learn zulu/xhosa in school. Early settlers also learned Koi and San

I encourage you to learn more about the country's pre-apartheid history, and help dismantle the narratives the regime implemented

Sorry but this is a very uninformed viewpoint.
Early settlers integrated very closely with Koi and San tribes, with many having families together.

Apartheid was a dark stain on our history and it drove a very revionist narrative of integration between our people - which many people readily accept
